I just received mine that I purchased from MPB. It was listed as “like new”. Came in the original box with all documentation. It looks and works like a brand new lens. I couldn’t be happier and I saved over $150 bucks.

The Tamron 18-400 DI-II VC NIK lens is priced identically at $649 by Amazon.com, B&H, and Adorama. I believe they all do NOT charge for shipping. I've had very good luck with buying many products from both Amazon.com and B&H over the years. I recommend you go with the company with whom you have the most faith and buying history.

I am going on a photo safari in Africa in September. I've been considering obtaining one of these lenses--I don't think my 18-200 will be enough for wildlife there.

I've been happy with B&H, and others here also recommend Adorama. Be careful if you find a new lens at a lower price than the authorized retailers as they often are grey market (no USA warrantees).

Did Hunt’s Photo used to be on the second floor of a drug store in Malden, Ma..? I went there a few times when I was stationed at Ft Devens 40 years ago.

Yes, you are correct. When I made my first trip there it was called Hunt's Drug and was owned by 3 Farber brothers who were pharmacists. And that was about 40 years ago. I think they are still in control. No drugs, however. Just photo related stuff. And a different store. I think they have 7 locations but the Melrose store is the flagship store. I don't deal with B&H because Hunt's Photo & Video is only 35 miles from my home. However, B&H is still excellent. ~FiddleMaker

Thanks, I remember it being a really good place. It was at least an hour drive for me in those days. There was also a photo store above a drugstore in Harvard, Massachusetts I used to go to since it was only 10 minutes away from Ft. Devens.

I was at Ft Devens for 1 1/3 year for AIT. Loved Boston and that sub shop just off base in Ayer

ASA? Yes, I was there in '66 to '67 for AIT. Also loved Boston but don't remember the sub shop but I'm sure i ate there. Then off to Ft. Meade into the heart of the beast.

Was the sales tax really a deal breaker, especially since you were already in the store?
Where will you go to check out equipment when they go out of business?

I was willing to pay the $50 tax...their return policy was the deal breaker...10 days and in store credit only.

Does anyone know if they have plans to bring out an auto version for the Sony a7? I have their 28-75mm f2.8 and I'm crazy about it. This would give me the second zoom lens that I'm looking for.
