Of course minimum wage was around $1.60 back then too. But still fun to see it. Thanks!

I had my first White Castle slider back in the depression days - think it was a nickle.

Yup. The cars lined up for miles on the Berlin Turnpike in the Hartford, CT area. Burger, fries, soda for 45 cents. Of course, most of us were really just cruisin', and Mickey D's was a good excuse!

I remember them twelve for a dollar then they went to eight for a dollar. I always heard them called belly bombs. Mid fifties the average income for a year was about fifteen to sixteen hundred but a loaf of bread was about quarter, pound of hamburger 3 lbs. for a dollar. Wages was about 30 to 40 dollars a week.

I skipped the fries for an extra burger. Figured it was more cost-effective. At that age, I needed all the protein my ever growing body could process.

Interesting how really little Mickey's offerings have changed.

In 2000, Mc Donalds did have the cheeseburger at 39 cents, that was when I actually decided to try them (I never bought one again)!

And now, McDonald's is paying about $15 per hour in San Francisco, CA. I'm sure the menu prices increased when that was implemented. But, the cost of living there is quite expensive too. White Castle Hamburgers were cheap too. I loved those greasy burgers with onions.
