Hi all! I am the one that some remember as the one that HACKED this lens so that it can be used on a crop sensor AND a full frame! Easy hack and just as easy to reverse.
I now have a tilt shift lens that is so cool and don't need this wonderful lens anymore.
It is in excellent condition. $340, includes shipping.
It works completely with a full frame!
By the way, years ago I rented the 16-35mm, which is about $1600, to see if I should upgrade and found this lens equal!!! Saved me a lot of money!!!

Id be interested if I didn't own that lens already (and some nice PC/tilt shifts). It's a superb APS-C ultra-wide zom lens. Very sharp. Great color. It's cool you got it to work on full frame too. That price is a good deal for such stellar optics.

I thought EFS lenses were crop sensor lenses?

How did you "hack" this lens to allow it to function correctly on a full-frame Canon?

Tamrons need no "hacking", their crop lenses work on full frame with no modifications.

Yes. All Tamron, Sigma, and Tokina crop sensor lenses mount just fine on all full frame cameras. Be they Canon, Nikon, Pentax, or Sony mounts.
The ONLY crop sensor lenses that can NOT be mounted on full frame cameras are the Canon EFS lenses. Canon intentionally cripples these lenses by adding a hard rubber extension to the rear of these lenses. Other than that crippling extension the EF and EFS lenses are exactly the same mount.
But keep in mind that all crop sensor lenses will vignette on full frame cameras. Some crop sensor lenses only vignette at the wide end but will fully cover the full frame sensor when zoomed in on a subject.

Yes it is but I performed a HACK and it can be used on full frame too!

It is just Canon's way of making more money......just wrong!! But I beat their system on this particular lens.

The rubber ring you talk about is not what prevents mounting an EF-S lens on full-frame body. It is in fact just a thin rubber cover over the rear lens element that protrudes out past the lens mounting flange. EF lenses do not protrude past the mounting flange. The thin rubber ring, easily removed by a fingernail, prevents two hard surfaces from bumping each other when inserting the lens in the body.
A crop body has clearance for the protrusion. A full frame body does not. That's why an EF-S lens won't fit on a full-frame body.
I too would love to know how an EF-S lens could be "hacked" to fit a full-frame body.
