I think it was yesterday that a member was thinking of quitting his editing through PSE and just sticking with the iPhoto program on his Apple device.
I’ve been out of town for about 11 days and had been editing on my iPad Pro and thought the photos were very good. After reading the member’s post, I thought I would check out the difference and this is what I came up with. The first photo in each set was edited with Apple’s photo program. The second photo was edited with PSE 18.
I can definitely see an improvement. What do others think?
The most obvious difference for me is the hand close-up. Excellent!
I'm reminded of the few times I thought the jpg was "good enough" until I edited my raw file (I shoot raw+jpg)
I have loved Elements since I first opened it (after struggling with Corel Paintshop Pro for a couple of years). Once I learned how to work in layers and layer masks (speaking of struggling!), I kind of stalled out on the learning curve, and haven't done much new aside from playing with textures and Nik Collection.
I'm sure there will be the
real Photoshop users coming along shortly to say that PSE is a lightweight wanna-be. I'm also sure those who use iPhoto know there are more robust editors, just as those who use bridge cameras know that a full frame dslr gives more consistent image quality and in certain circumstances, far superior. The point is we should all use whatever makes us happy and stop worrying about the guy or gal in the next room

Excellent words of wisdom.
