I still have not found a satisfactory solution to the slight Parkinson's in my right hand. It is worst when focusing and shutter release. I bought a wired cable release and that is quite helpful when the Sony is mounted on a tripod because I can use my left hand. I seem to manage at 200 - 300mm focal length, but beyond that, holding steady is impossible. I've not yet tried BBF, but I have my doubts about that scenario. The worst shake is with my index finger at shutter release. In the past, I found with my Canon DSLR's, wearing a hand strap helped. I have one for the Sony arriving tomorrow via Amazon. Here's the one I ordered: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00HTWF9ZI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not necessarily looking for suggestions, but I'm open to recommendations. I'm just sharing more of this issue with my friends at UHH. I'll report results after tomorrow. I don't up give easily.
Thanks for visiting,
Mark

Mark, Are you using a similar wrist strap on your DSLRs? It seems as though the one you purchased for your Sony will provide a lot of support. I'm curious if it will hinder using the camera in portrait mode. Would you please report back after you have used it for a while?

Have you considered a wireless remote? I have a similar problem, not from Parkinson's but from spinal cord damage right below the base of the skull. I have just begun a search for a solution.

I'm sorry about your issue. That sucks for a photographer. What about a remote shutter release? You hold the button in the right hand which would not be on the camera. It will focus also since you don't use the BBF. I realize the problem will be holding the camera with just the left hand. That might get heavy depending on usage.

I have had a shaky right hand for about 35 years, and also can't hand hold my Canon steady beyond 300mm either. What hand strap did you purchase for your Canon, and from whom? Thank you in advance!

Yes I have. I have wired remote. That only works when I mount the camera on a tripod, not for handheld.
Thank you,
Mark

Please read my initial post. I put in a link to the handstrap.

I have another strap on my 5D MIII. It did help. I did not want to remove it, so I'm purchasing another, but different strap for the Sony. I'll post results.
Thanks,
Mark

I wonder if some variation of Larry's body pod would help.

Right there with you as I was tempted to purchase near the same strap. But I needed one more for the left hand not the right. I've concluded that I was able to adjust the neck strap with a bridge gap that allows the shortened neck strap to be tethered to my left hand just to hold the camera. The strap tie points do get in the way of the view screen. But I'll have to deal with this until a more suitable setup has been created. if you're having nearly the same holding issues as I, then I would think twice about using a tethered tablet mounted on a caged camera. Then using a tripod your hands are free to zoom, focus or adjust. Once I get around to getting all the parts necessary for my setup I'll post a more detailed design.

Thanks for the suggestion, Bill
I don't think it will for my particular issue. I hoping the hand strap might offer some stability to my shaky finger/right hand.

Thanks for the feedback. The issue is prevalent when hand holding the camera. When mounted on the tripod I can use the wired remote cable with my left hand.

I was thinking with the camera supported you might be able to position your hand differently, even using a wireless remote in your other hand.

Good luck finding whatever works best!

I truly appreciate the suggestions, Bill. That's exactly how I do it when using a tripod. I put the remote in my left hand. I've worked around this issue with my DSLR's. When zooming the Sony beyond 300 mm, I can't hold sufficiently still and activate the shutter - shake shake, shake!!! = blur, blur, blur!!! It is not life threatening, just a bit annoying. I'll post my experience with the new hand strap. I'm hopeful!!
