Many wintering birds visit the hatchery during the winter months. This provides many opportunities for captures. Hope you enjoy these. Just a few from the couple of hours I spent at the hatchery this morning.
PS The Cooper's Hawk was in my front yard, though. They hang out around my bird feeder.

Thank you all. I wish I had more than a couple of hours, but there are many more that never got posted. I was fortunate to have a target-rich environment and the lens was establishing focus very consistently. I usually use a tripod, but hand-holding seemed to work this time

Graduated Folsom Hi ...we use to see how far we could paddle up by the prison before the guards would yell at us ..it’s fun to watch the salmon on the ladders at Nimbus .. that was one of our field trips from Hi School .. You can't get any closer to Nimbus than aerojet. The Fish Hatchery has changed a lot in the recent years. But the spillway still attracts large numbers of water Birds after the spawning season. Glad you enjoyed the photos. Hope it brought back some memories.

Excellent BIFs, David.
Thank you, Earl. My lens and camera body were working in perfect combo for the auto focus focusing and locking on. I was real pleased with the results. While I was shooting, I thought the lens was not locking onto the subject, but when I brought them in to post processing I found that was not correct.
