Still on the subject of Panoramas and bits for them.
I just took delivery of an L-bracket that I ordered and once more it does not fit onto my BH-02. I now have 3 plates that do not fit.
Can someone tell me how I know what to order, given that there do not appear to be any Fancier things about the place? I tried a photo shop (two words :) ) in Melbourne but they said they no longer sell L-brackets. Is there a way of telling what my ballhead will take without me simply blazing away and buying plates until one finally fits?
On a side note, why don't manufacturers make these all fit each ballhead? Would seem logical.
thank you
Terry
Is there a place near you where you can take the camera and see if you can find a fit? Why do you have 3 plates? Can't you return them?

I live in the SW of Western Australia. Perth, the capital is 160 miles away, and there appear to be only 2 camera shops. One is serious, the other a cheapie. So, difficult to get info that way.

The brand is Fancier. No particular attachment to the head. If I remove the ball bit, an Arca just fits on?

The BH-02 appears to be a $40 ball head on ebay and APPEARS to take Arca/Swiss - but does not SAY so.
I just went through the same thing with my Manfrotto Ball Head and getting an L Plate for it. Manfrotto makes an L plate but it's a "Universal" one which did not work for my camera so I ordered one that was camera specific and changed the clamp from the RC-2 to an Arca Swiss clamp. It only cost me around $27 and I'm really pleased with it. I got this one from Haoge on Amazon.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01CAO7QIM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 There are other cheaper ones but if your ball head is from Manfrotto you'll need the little adapter that lets you mount the clamp flat on the ballhead. I also used a bit of Loctite (The blue version, not the red) on the screw that mounts the plate to the ballhead (not the camera
)
If that is the RRS ballhead I read somewhere that there are a few of the RRS ballheads that have a slighthly different opening. This is on Breakthrough Photography's site regarding their arca swiss plates "NOTE: One customer has told us RRS uses some kind of proprietary dimensions, not universal."

What I read about the BH-02 did not say it took Arca/Swiss. It said that it used the ArcaSwiss concept. Not sure what that means.
It does look like an ArcaSwiss clamp, but hard to tell.

Some clamps, Benro for one, have a feature that prevents the camera from coming off of the clamp if you accidentally loosed the clamp knob.. You turn the clamp knob and it stops turning before the clamp completely opens. You then have to pull the knob out and keep turning to get the clamp to fully release. You might see if you clamp has this feature.

How about you take a picture of the head you have and include it in an email in the place(s) you are ordering from?
Or, post some pictures here, on this photography site, of your head and what you already purchased. Maybe somebody will sort it out for you. A picture really is worth a thousand words in a situation like this.

You are the one that has the ball head, so you should know which release it has!
It's arca swiss. some times with the arca swiss L brackets the little alan screws can stick out a little too much. Although its usually easy to slide the corner of the L on to the bracket rather than the open ends.
Manufacturers such as Really Right Stuff, Wimberley, Markins, AcraTech, Kirk use the 1.5 inch wide standard Arca-Swiss dovetail that Really Right Stuff has a diagram for on their website. Some manufacturers such as Manfrotto, Bogen, Gitzo, and Sirui use a different standard. I have a Sirui Arca-Swiss plate that has a 1.54 inch wide dovetail. I went through all this because I made my own Arca-Swiss plate in a machine shop for my 80-400mm lens. It would be best to get a ballhead that uses the 1.5 inch wide dovetail used by most companies.
This is the Really Right Stuff diagram for their Arca-Swiss dovetail. Most companies use this standard

I just measured a couple of mine at 38mm wide (1.49") 1.54" is about 39mm. With the screw type clamp this isn't a problem. A lever type clamp would need some adjustment in grip, arguably the lever type are a few seconds faster to open and close, but i'm happy enough with the screw type.
