The girl does a lot of commercial stills and video as characters like businesswoman, doctor, saleswoman, and we did some shots of her as a businesswoman, then as a nurse and as a doctor. (Fully dressed, of course). This was a spur of the moment joke shot, which she and her boyfriend got a laugh out of. The practical use? I changed the background from busy to solid, and then to blue, while learning aspects of Photoshop.

I love it, a day at the office for a young doctor!

Sometimes a fuzzy edged blur brush along a highlighted subject edge can make the pasted composite look more natural? The brush needs to be dialed down a lot, just experiment until you get the best results. Less like a cutout doll? Cute image!

"Psst. The Sternum is a bit further down."

Must be new at this.

A definite good humor shot. Or a promo for the manufacturer of the stethoscope. (Omron has one for about $14.00. )

Actually that stethoscope is placed over the left edge of the lower portion of the sternum, the proper place to listen to one of the heart valves.

Cute, but I'd desaturate the blue a little.

And it is placed in several spots to determine lung functioning.

Generally lung function is auscultated over the posterior thorax and sometimes the lateral aspects. Heart sounds are auscultated over the anterior chest.

For those of you who might not know: "Auscultation is a fancy-sounding word, but you've probably had it done many times. It's that part of a physical exam when the doctor leans over you with a cold stethoscope and listens to the sounds inside your body. Auscultation traces back to the Latin word auscultare, meaning 'listen.' "

Posterior = "in back of"
Lateral = "across"
Anterior = "nearer the front"

Now, let's go to other things, especially photographic. (X-Ray is still in the basement of this site. )

Your sarcasm is not lost. However, posterior, in medical terminology, means the back, lateral means the side, and anterior means front.

As for “X-ray” do you not mean “radiology” which includes many other methods of testing? Some of them do not include the use nuclear radiation.

However, the most important points to remember are:

1. Put the stethoscope head where it makes a good composition; AND
2. Put it on bare skin for a more intriguing photo; AND
3. Refrigerate it first, to encourage the 'perkiness' reflex and get the model's attention...

I second the notion that photographic priorities trump medical accuracy.
