I will throw my 2 cents in, I have a pair of prescription glasses that are lightly tinted and I find that when I wear them at night they help cut the glare while driving.

Before I had the surgery I had tri-focals and I always bougth the self darkening lenses. That's the only thing I miss about glasses. I do have to have readers and I have them all over the house and car. I wish I had the surgery sooner but was terrified by the thoughts of it. When they did they the surgery had to give me double anesthesia. Funny, when in the funeral business I was licensed to perform eye enucleations for further transplants, never botherd me one bit. But the thoughts of soemone messing with my eye was terrifing to me.

I bought a pair for use in the rain and/or fog. They work great for that , but not so much for night driving.

I am amazed at how much better my nite vision is since my cataract surgery. The surgery is inevitable so get it done so you can see better now! It is the simplest surgery I have ever had & I have had many. Like they say, it's not if but when for cataracts.

Cataracts are an every day fix for a modern we-trained ophthalmologist. Give yourself a present and have the surgery unless there is so co-morbid condition that prevents you from moving ahead.

Bill-simple solution, get the cataracts removed now. You will be amazed at the night driving improvement. I have "night driving" glasses (in fact they are just yellow lenses) They reduce some of the glare, but not a big deal. I used to have a yellow lens in my ski goggles. Gave definition to the snow when the sky was all cloudy and everything looked flat. Try the glasses, they are really cheap.

These are not good for driving at night. They may reduce glare and reflections but they also reduce light available for seeing the road and obstacles.

I have really great vision since getting my cataracts done. 20/20 or close in both eyes.
But my eye doctor did give me a prescription for eyeglasses that really help reduce night glare and eliminate UV since artificial eye lenses after cataracts offer no UV protection.
During the day I always wear UV and polarized sunglasses outside.

Jerry,
I have a pair. They work well for the headlights on cars older than about 10 years. The new headlights with high intensity and LED lights are still bright.

I have had a pair of these things for over twenty years. They are not new. I bought them someplace cheap. I use them when I fly my RC planes in the evening. I can fly with safety well into dusk. They could not have cost more than five dollars. I'm too cheap. It has to be something to do with the amber color of the lens.

I just came from the eye doctor today and he suggested the cheap yellow glasses for driving. Said to try them before spending a lot of money for prescription night driving glasses. My cataracts are not bad enough to warrant surgery (yet). I should have asked him if they were”low light” lenses!!lol
