I see ads for night driving glasses occasionally, and Amazon is having a sale on them. I've always gotten by fine without them. Do any of you think they do any good?

Jerry, I asked my opthamologist that very question a month or so ago. He said they are o.k for reducing glare, but of little use to me with problem seeing at night with cataracts. With Oncoming Headlights I can’t see the road.

Thanks. "Reducing glare" sounds good, but by how much, and would it really matter? Amazon is selling them for $13.46 for a few more hours, so maybe I'll try a pair.

They help a lot if nighttime car lights bother you. They will also cut daytime glare.

I had similar issues at night until I had cataract surgery. Eliminated my Glaucoma and my vision dramatically improved. I need glasses only when reading or viewing my monitor. I have a pair for each.

Yellow glasses are simply a blue filter.
Cheap glasses are the same as cheap lenses. Good yellow glasses will seem to make things sharper since they reduce blue and help reduce a bit of glare.
But... If you can't see at night, yellow glasses wont really help.

Without being designed for your far vision probably little more than a polarized set. The flip screen on the mirror works for headlights behind you, clip on folding down sun glasses might be the answer

In the fall of last year I had cataract surgery on both eyes. I renewed my drivers license a few weeks ago and for the first time since I was 28 years old I do not have a glasses restriction on my license. I'm 72. WOOOHOOO!!

In the 60's I had a pair of night glasses. They worked great. When my '58 MG was destryed by a BIG BUICK ROADMASTER, they were wiped out. It all most destroyed me too!

I got a pair at Walmart for about $17 but don't see any improvement over non use. I think the ads are marketing hype.

Ditto concerning cataracts. I have had issue with night time driving, depth perception is my issue. Went to eye doctor, said I had the beginnings of cataracts, nut not bad enough for them to recommend surgery. Not sure i understand this, is it insurance or risk factors, I refrain from night time driving but cant always avoid it.

I have found the polarized Duco brand glasses help. The cheap ones don't do anything but turn everything yellow. I have both gray for sun & yellow for nite. I don't think there are any glasses that work at nite. I have found them very useful for low lite situations like dawn & dusk or those gray rainy or winter days when the regular sunglasses are just too dark.

They have a better effect at dusk and dawn. At Night? Not much. you don't see our soldiers using them at night. Just saw the guy above me. looks like we think the same.

I,too, have had cataracts for several years (and has not changed)and try to avoid nite driving. Since I am retired, I can avoid nite driving for about 95% of the time. Dr said no need for surgery now unless I feel the need for night driving. So, I am taking the surgery avoidance choice.😎

I bought them to help with night driving, but they didn’t help. However, they’re great when it’s raining or overcast— makes everything much brighter and easier to see.
