Wonderful Paris street scenes. Your travel photos are outstanding and really tell a story of Paris during the day and in the evening.

So Don,
What are the downsides to the G7X MarkII?
Thanks,

Great question. I wanted a higher-end point n shoot that I could put comfortably into a pant or jacket pocket. The G7X fit that bill. The basic downside was getting used to the smallness of the camera with finger placement. Often my thumb would inadvertently hit the buttons on the back causing the camera to go from single shot to burst, or changing the scene to macro. Also the monitor is a touch screen, and often a touch could cause something to happen that I didn't want (I learned soon to disable this feature). I shoot in manual and it was a bit of a learning curve get and keep the settings I wanted. Once I got things figured out (for the most part), I grew more comfortable using this camera. I think the picture quality is quite good and it has a nice video/time laps feature. Thanks for your interest.

Beautiful shots, Don. I recognized most of the locations, and you portrayed them wonderfully. Thanks for sharing them.

Great Shots :) :)
HDR on Shots 1 - 3 is a little overcooked - otherwise outstanding stuff.

Thanks for your comments Merlin. I do admit I have a heavy finger at times on the HD slider. Appreciate your comments and thanks for viewing.

Excellent set, particularly the night shots and the misty, rather washed out one of the bridge which is a very pleasing effect. The last one is an interesting street shot - the girl looks tired, rather pregnant, and is that a vaping appliance in her hand?

Don, what effect or filter was applied to get that Orton-like effect on image 8 (the bridge)? I've been reading up on how to create the Orton effect in PP and this look is what I'm looking to achieve.

Beautiful images, by the way. I do love those night photos!

Stan

Stan, I downloaded my pics to my iPad and from there I used an app called Snapseed. Snapseed has a lot of nice features, but I generally just use standard features to tune and at times create a HD effect. I didn't use any specific feature to create an Orton effect. Thanks for viewing and commenting, much appreciated.

I love your shots of Paris! Paris is one of my favorite cities, but my pictures never do it justice.

Re: downside(s) Of G7X MK II: my chief complaint is lack of a view finder. I traded that, tho, for the ability to carry the camera out of sight in my shirt pocket. Composing an image on the screen is sometimes difficult in bright light, but I can put up with that to make it more difficult for thieves to rip me off, which has happened before and ruined a trip. Don, that little G7X MK II is my favorite travel camera. Great for traveling in crowded cities. I refer to it as my “bus window” camera, as it is easy to handle if you are stuck on a bus full of tourists. Here is a handheld shot I made with mine, inside at Frederiksborg in Denmark.

Great shot AJFRED. Agree, its a nice camera in crowded conditions. I like the fact I can eaisly store it in my pocket if both hands are needed. Thanks for viewing.

Great eyesight Sue. I do believe that is a vaping appliance she is carrying. Thanks for viewing, much appreciated.

Really nice travel pics.

For those of us who have never been able to visit Paris, could you post some names for the sites photographed?
