Some of my favorite photographic subjects are birds--backyard birds, water fowl and more exotic birds, at the feeders or in flight. I'm looking forward to sharing some of my pictures of these wonderful creatures and am really looking forward to seeing all of your great bird pics.
To start with some backyard visitors to my Santa Fe house:

They seem to like it. The turkeys like whatever they're finding in my lawn and the deer like my shrubs. We enjoy having them drop by.
One day I watched an encounter in my front yard between a large group of turkeys (26 of them with their babies) and a coyote. The coyote looked really hungry and kept eying the babies. The turkeys kept on grazing though and eventually the coyote decided that he did not want to tangle with the adults. So off he sauntered up my drive in search of a different meal.

I do not blame the coyote for choosing an easier meal. I was charged at by a tom turkey once who thought I was intruding in his territory--

Great start, and thanks for hosting this challenge, Kat. I know with all the
"birders" on UHH, you may be in for a record number of responses. I, too,
am looking forward to what everyone shares.

I've only every tried "BIF" images once, as witnessed below. Mediocre
success at best, but it was fun.

Unfortunately, all the other images I have of birds are of those in
captivity....
