Here's a few shots from last Spring. All were shot with a Sony a6000 and a Canon 400mm f/5.6 lens and a Canon EF1.4x II teleconverter

...and a couple taking a little artistic license, I think they call it.

Thank you, sir. Coming from the master of swamp and shore bird photography, your comment will carry more weight than many others, something I don't seem to have a need to be concerned about in this thread. 107 visits and just one comment. Everyone else is just being nice and not wanting to hurt my feelings, I surmise. Fact is that these shots are pretty stinkin' bad. I didn't realize it until I had a look at this post on a monitor other than the one I processed them on which was a new, uncalibrated 4k monitor and it sure let me down but once they've sat on here past the one hour deadline, you're "sunk." Your comment is exceedingly kind under the circumstances. I WILL be much more careful next time. Please excuse me for dragging you into this mess. You must have just been feeling sorry for me. LOL. I'm not in your league but even so I am nonetheless a little embarrassed by these images and it's pretty hard to embarrass me about my photographic skills about which I am suffering no illusions. Thanks again.

Just a short footnote: ...I am aware that I have alienated a few folks in uhh so I'm heartened that if there were any of those in the group who looked but didn't comment they've forgiven me but just don't intend to forget and are taking no chances.

I'm far from a master of just about anything, Gessman and they look good to me, but one caveat---I'm slated to go to the eye doctor to discuss cataract removal in several weeks , but I do have one suggestion; when you submit the images click the download box which allows the images to be view in a larger and more detailed manner! Many time I have viewed images that looked Ok but nothing exceptional but when downloaded couldn't believe the difference, and to see even a larger view click the image again and that can really make a difference. There are so many images to view anymore each day that it's very tempting just to take a quick peek and continue on but so many time I was rewarded by the extra time this little simple step took, but many times when I've been on several hours I know that I'm not as attentive as I am normally and feel sorry for the members images I view when pushing to finish my viewing! Another thing that really helps but is beyond our control is that not all the images are selected each day to be posted on the forum that allowers non-members to also view them and can almost always tell when mine is not selected as the number of views will be much lower. I know very little about advanced post-processing and would guess that you are probably light years ahead of me, and sure you are aware that the most important item is focus so one of the first things that I do in pp is to enlarge the image at least 50 to 100 percent and if it's not in focus, then select a better-focused one to work with! Keep posting and more will see your work and respond and believe the number of clicks is more important many times than the written replies because many people just don't have but so much time to allocate to this hobby. Take care!

I certainly can't quarrel with anything you said and I often do as you suggested when posting. These all look better enlarged so you can see them eye to eye, so to speak but I decided not to engage the download feature this time and, as you say, not making it into the featured list is almost sudden death. Thanks for your responses and good luck with the cataract thing. I did it last August and not only is it a piece of cake but barring rare complications, you'll be glad you did it if my experience is any gauge. Happy New Year to you.
