Noticed a few days ago comments about Pro Show Gold. I downloaded their trial version to see what it is about and found it to be a program that would be fun to use. However, I also was unable to use a few features such as soundtrack and copying captions to other slides.
My question is whether the full purchase version for $70 Includes those features plus all that ProShow Golds website lists or do you have to purchase additional software to have what they tout? I understand they sell packs for expanding your choices.
I welcome any comments pro or con on ProShow Gold. I have created many dvd’s On PS Elements so I am familiar with creating slideshows, just looking for more creative software on the amateur side of the fence.

I'm not sure about the "captions" you are asking about.

I used to do my slideshow with ProShow Gold and upgraded to ProShow Producer about a couple years ago. I love ProShow Gold but love the Producer version better. Before settling on ProShow software (by Photodex) I tried a number of slideshow and video software but didn't like any of them. IMHO, ProShow tops them all.

For a starter with this software, I recommend trying ProShow Gold first. You can do slideshow (with video clips) embellished with transition effects and slide effects built-in to the software. If you want more effects and embellishments (e.g., wedding style, sports, etc.) you will have to download it, I believe $19.95 per pack.

I am not sure what your question is about soundtrack and copying captions to other slides. You can add music and other sounds to your slideshow. You can add captions to your slideshow. You can make slideshow mixed with video clips. You can adjust the volume of the background music or turn it off if you don't want it to interfere with the video clips' sound/conversation. You can adjust the time to start or end of your music according to your slide preference. You can also record only some portion of the music you choose depending on your preference. You can use background music from your collection or downloaded from iTune or Amazon, etc. (Caution: Copyright. For personal use, OK. If you post in YouTube, they will screen/scan and will deny if copyright issue.) You can also use built-in copyright free incorporated with the software. But, very limited selection. YouTube also has copyright-free music you can use but may not be to your liking.

In the slide style you choose, there is selection where you can add caption in the appropriate box. If there is no caption box, just click "add" in the caption layer and then type what you want. You can choose the style font, size, bold, etc. You can also place the text anywhere in the slide as long as it's not outside the border of the slide.

You can make copy of the slideshow you created on a thumb drive, DVD, Vimeo, and other post in social media of your choice if included in the software. ProShow Producer, you can make Blu-ray copy for great picture quality. Not sure if that's included in the ProShow Gold.

Of course, you can also call the company for help. I'm not sure if the trial version has the "Help" tab you can click if you have questions. The official version has them. Almost always, you can find the answer or instruction in the "Help" tab of the software and no need to call customer service.

IMHO, once you learn the "ins/outs" of ProShow Gold, you don't want to try anything else, except may to upgrade or buy the extra packs for effects and embellishments. Don't be discouraged. One more, have:
Patience, Perseverance, Practice!

Good luck.

What a terrific response! Thanks for all your information. PSG sure looks like a fun way to create slideshows! Based on all this information I'm ready to pop for the software.
I made a couple of shows in the trial version and was very impressed with what this program has to offer.
I was questioning whether or not all PSG said on their website was actually included in the program. I read somewhere you had to buy something extra to actually do all they said you are able to do. Evidently that was either old information or not accurate.
Thanks again. Sam

When your order clears (usually within a few hours but may take longer after hours and weekends), you'll receive the Product Registration Keys for downloading. Print this form and keep it in a safe place. You'll need this info in the future if you decide to upgrade, buy additional pack (slide style, transition effects, etc.) or just for future reference such as customer assistance. Downloading the software is a breeze.

Good luck.

My only knock against Gold is that it does not allow keyframing.

Thanks again, Sunnely. I ordered a little while ago and still waiting for a registration key. I've had registration keys with other software and it is a bear if you can't locate the key when needed. Should take a photo and keep it in my photo files!
As an aside I've been in Wisconsin several times. The last time was 2-3 years ago on a photography program sponsored by UW Stevens Point at their nature preserve in Treehaven. 2 weeks of great photography all around the area and Michigan UP shooting waterfalls. Beautiful state.
Thanks for helping. Sam

Soundtrack features are fully enabled in Gold and are very easy to use. I’ve never needed to copy a title from one slide to another but I think you might be able to create a slide style of your own that contains the title you want repeated. As others have noted, the folks at photodex can verify this. My one email interface with them was positive, not much delay in their answer. I wasn’t in a hurry.

I have been using Proshow Producer for several years... mainly creating BluRay shows of all my family events, vacations, etc. It is a great product for easily mixing photos, videos, and music together to produce a great looking show. One very nice feature is using the "Wizard" to generate part or all of your show. You can select the "slide styles" of your choice... and generate a variable mixture of only those styles using your photos and videos. You can run the "Wizard" multiple times to get a variation of your selected slides... until you like what the Wizard produces. It is a very quick and effective way of generating a show. You can use the "wizard" on only a few of the slides... or a mixture of slides... and can modify other slides and/or the "wizard" generated slides... manually. Great tool!

If you want to present your Photos and Videos in a very professional looking format... Proshow Producer is the way to go! Well worth the expense if you do much of this type of work.
