Stolen gear... vintage Nikon & Canon, Central California

WOW. I thought I had it bad when my camera bag was stolen with my Nikon and lenses at Crater Lake a number of years back. Can't imagine losing this many items vintage or not. Sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss but I do want to say I like your record keeping! That level of detail is unusual.
This of course is rotten. I hope you find the gear.

That last was a really unnecessary comment, and probably completely off-base. Unless you are a Native American Indian, or other indigenous American, somewhere back in your own history/family history, you are also the progeny of immigrants. $5.00 says it was a local "citizen" with a meth or opium addiction to feed, or to lazy to work for a living.
I do hope the OP finds his gear (and they didn't just dump it somewhere thinking it old and unwanted). I'll be watching for it too, good that he had the serial numbers.

Indians (as they actually prefer to be called) are also immigrants, coming over the land bridge from Siberia to Alaska.

Hi folks,
I apologize for the intrusion, but I recently had my locked garage broken into and a bunch of stuff stolen.... mostly stuff like a chainsaw, an axe, gas powered trimmer, various garden hand tools, carpentry tools incl. circular saw, reciprocating saw, and some spare car parts.
Unfortunately I also had a bin full of some vintage camera gear temporarily stowed in there.
The theft has been reported and I've been watching Craigslist and eBay, however I'm posting a gear list here in hope that someone might spot some of the camera gear if/when it comes up for sale. Where I have record of them, partial serial #s are included to help with any identification.:

Nikkor 43-86mm zoom lens... ??
(new, in original box)
I think there may have been a Nikkor 28mm f/2.8E (xx4972) on the Nikon FG camera listed above, too.
There also were a number of small parts such as filters, extra front and rear lens caps, batteries and battery adapters, and more... all in a translucent plastic "bin" with a blue lid.
The theft occurred in a rural property in the foothills East of Fresno and happened around Thanksgiving or the weeks prior. I was away from the property for a period of time.
Please send me a PM if you notice any of these items for sale anywhere.
Thanks in advance!
Hi folks, br br I apologize for the intrusion, b... (

Where did you find a plastic bin/tote that would hold all that?

Seems like you know the Ethnicity of the person or persons that did this dastardly deed. This country spent 40 years or so to get the berlin wall torn down, and now many want a wall built, it WILL not solve anything except cost you money.

Surely you know that the Berlin Wall was built to keep people in a country against their will. The American southern border wall is built to keep people out who are, by law, not supposed to be in the United States without permission. Perhaps you can tell us of other countries that allow anyone to just come across the border without permission.
Can you honestly not see the difference?

Sorry olemikey. Unnecessary to whom? I said it was a guess. The OP lives in California. Illegal immigrants and sanctuary cities came to mind. I forgot about the 'citizens' with meth or opium addictions to feed, or those too lazy to work.....yet as a Democrat stronghold of bat-crap-crazy liberals....that could certainly account for it as well.
Again, this too is just a guess on my part....but the pieces fit. "Where there's smoke, there's often fire."
Theives are every where it's not a Calif thing, I can guarantee you this you can go ANYWHERE in the U.S. select 50 or 100 people and out of those you WILL find at least one thief......guaranted........ ask me how I know.

First, I said it was just a guess.....and likely on target, IMHO.
Apples and Oranges my friend. The Berlin Wall separated the same people, living on two sides of the same city....politically separated as 'spoils of war.'
The United States is a sovereign nation, a Constitutional Republic, that has every right to secure its borders.
There is a process in place to request and gain entry/citizenship into this country. There are many who have jumped through the hoops and wait in line for their chance to enter legally.
Problem is, without border regulation, the citizens of our country may be subjected to unnecessary/uncertain dangers. The ongoing cost of providing Federal assistance to these people who have no marketable skills, do not speak English and disregard our laws to enter illegally....far exceed the cost of building a wall.

It's too bad that a man's posting about having his property stolen has turned into a political debate. Why can't people just stick to the subject without politics entering into it?

Don't apologize to me, I'm not offended - It was an ugly comment, that's all. So, when in your family's history did they immigrate to the USA? Mine came in the very early 1800's from England and Ireland. You and I made good choices in our lives to be good citizens, and so have a great many others (all races, ethnic types).
I will apologize to the OP for where this went and then I'm done with it - we don't see "eye to eye", and that's OK, that's the beauty of our country, we can both still live happy productive lives here.
I wouldn't pick on California too heavily, we both live in another bat-crap crazy state. Heck we made a billion dollar con man our last governor (remember Columbia/HCA - he stole from us, the citizens of this country) and now we made him a US senator, (gee can it get any better) and he will be running for pres before we know it, and Florida has made gerrymandering of elections/voting districts a state pastime. More crooks in the new swamp., draining the old one didn't help. Have a great day.

My apologies Stash (and everyone else), I should have just let it go, just not in my nature I guess.... You are right about sticking to the subject matter, and not conjecture. If I ever run into Largobob I'll buy him a beer and we can argue that stuff over a game of darts or somesuch.

I hate to see this thread go off on a political track, but let me add some facts. The number of illegal aliens entering the southern border at other than regular immigration ports has declined every year for the past number of years (including the Obama presidency), and this last year was no exception. Instead, what we are seeing are more individuals and families asking for asylum (often from Guatemala, Venezuela, and similar countries) appearing at regular legal immigration check points. Also, the flow of drugs is primarily through those checkpoints, rather than being sneaked across where a wall might be built. Finally, very few on the FBI watch list for terorists come across the southern border - the vast majority come in airplanes and land at international airports. So what we actually need instead of more walls is better processing and more facilities and manpower at the regular ports of entry and and an actual reasonable immigration policy. No one, including me, wants a huge influx of itinerant aliens that need to be supported by our educational and healthcare systems. What we do need are workers for farms, homebuilding, landscaping, etc. who are willing to assimilate and become Americans, including speaking English and paying taxes. Just my opinion.
