This bad boy is taking in some Sun. It was about 10 feet long.

Once at Fort Stewart in the woods I had one swim right up at my feet, stick it's eyes up out of the water and look at me. Their eyes glow pink in the dark. They can also move lightening fast. I threw a rock at one once and have never seen anything move so fast. Once while down there a bulldozer had plowed out a large trench and at the lower end it was full of water. There was a medium sized alligator down by the water. One of the black soldiers in our unit climbed down and began poking at the gator with a stick when suddenly the gator grabbed the stick out of his hands lightening fast. The guy jumped a six foot bank coming out of there. We all accused him of turning white from the fright.

I do not have first hand experience; however, I have read more than one article on the speed of these guys. Looks like he is sleeping and then bam, he is on you. Lots of news out of Florida where they grab pets and people.
Thanks for the kind comments.
Nice shot. I don't care how "long" your lens was, you were still too close to that bad boy. LOL.
Great catch Vaughan. It looks like his belly is full, but even then they can move a lot faster than you can.
Hope he remembered his SPF.
