I like it. My reasons have already been stated by others.
The proposed format is an improvement. You are obviously reacting to uses and abuses of the current format over the years. I would like to see an effort for editing submissions, either simply correcting spelling and typos or even improving grammar and syntax, making thus reading them much easier.
You may wish to introduce the new system for trial over a month and ask for comments and suggestions for further improvement.
Old and stuck in my ways, I like the current format better
I find that just a couple of lines (1080p monitor) is enough for me to decide if I'm interested or not. The "Continue reading..." link makes it easy to quickly check a thread in more detail. Likewise I only need one image per thread to decide if I'll find it interesting.
I prefer the original format
Is there any way to limit the size of vertical photos? Horizontal pictures display beautifully on my iMac 27 but vertical ones have to be scrolled and one cannot view them in totality. I may be wrong, but I think that by this time most desk top machines have adopted a horizontal wide format.

I like and prefer the old format better. I prefer to see just a list of the topics as I currently see. Most days, if a topic interests me, I open it and start reading it. If it is of no interest to me or a topic seeking help on a camera system I do not use and have no knowledge about, then I don't bother reading it. I prefer to see each topic section, with just the list of topics in each section.
The examples you have provided for us to look at seem to have different subjects and topics all grouped together, not divided into the different subject topics such as the "Main Photography Discussion", "Photo Contests, Challenges, Discussion", "Photo Gallery", etc. Again, this is the format I prefer to look at and peruse through. The new format is to long and will take too much time to scroll through in my opinion. If both are to be offered and we have a choice of which format we want to receive, then its not really an issue as long as we can choose to read the forum in the format we prefer.
OK, I've spent a little time going through several pages worth of posts in the new format, and despite liking it, it does get a little tedious going through everything. Lots of new screens involved. But, you did say the present format would also be retained so that's a win-win in my book.
I would like to see the poster's name at the top under the title instead of at the bottom in the "continue" location. Just makes decisions easier for this old mind.

I much prefer to scan it is more efficient. Please provide the option for both.
