Too cold, yes indeed! We have 10-12 white-tailed deer on my property that call it home. And, like your game laws we get slammed pretty hard for feeding them, but I do put out water, especially in the hot months. Keeps them off the highway crossing to the lake for a drink. All of our herd have names, and one doe in particular is a great grandmother eight times over!
when I first moved in 15 years ago, i had a grandma and mom and then offspring of mom.
Grannie died, which in turn made mom - granny and the family kept moving up in age. Grannie and her offspring moved off about 4 years ago now( hunters moved in- coyotes and a bear and mtn. lions as well.
I am lucky now to see one of the daughters come around with her young so the cycle is beginning once more. 6 seems to be the max tho, where 15 years ago, i had 60 deer in my yard at one time.
Sure miss my Gals..
