I have been using Tamron 18-400 for about a year. Clarity is excellent from mountains to moose to butterflys. Also lightweight and comfortable hiking. Good investment

What camera are you going to mount it on?
Tamron does not recommend that the console be used with the lens being discussed.

The 4th lens on the list provided is the 18-400 which is the lens I have and the console that I used. It worked great!

Thanks for the information.
I have now used the Tamron 18-400 on my Nikon D7100 for over a year and I am quite satisfied with it. Keep in mind I prize versatility over the ultimate in quality of the image because I generally travel where it's impractical to change lenses and also I shoot things that may be a few feet away to several hundred yards away. Under these conditions I highly recommend the 18-400 as I almost always get a good number of keepers (animals, people and scenes). But do keep in mind the qualifications stated above.

love that lens. We just got back from a trip to Italy and a Med Cruse. I can't be happier with the pictures taken through that lens. By all means, grab it while you can.

I purchased on last year and at the same time bought a used Nikon 18-300 3.5/5.6. The Tamron was lighter and focused faster but the Nikon was smoother and, said Nikon on it. I used both for about a week and chose to keep the Nikon. If the zoom on the Tamron were a little smoother I’d have kept it instead. There was no discernible difference in image quality.
I bought it when it first came out.
It can be a bit stiff when you first get it, but it definitely has gotten smoother.
I really love the weight and ease of use.
It is real sharp in bright light.
I have posted some photos on this site with the photos that i have taken with it.
I had a couple of pretty awesome seats (literally first row for one game) for a Dodgers-Nationals doubleheader in D.C. in May 2018 and used the 18-400 exclusively (it's easy to get into a game) along with a Canon 7D Mark II. I usually shoot full-frame and with better lenses, but I was pretty happy with the results.
I've had one since a sale this past Spring. It works well with my Nikon D5300 and D7200. I use it for just about everything with my only complaint being its heavy. I highly recommend this great product! Enjoy!

Since I bought one, it's the lens on my D500 most of the time. I change when I want a F1.8 for depth of field control. It will be the best $500 investment that you will make
I use mine for competitive swim meets. I have taken shots both from the bleachers and from on the deck; Auto ISO, shutter preferred @ 1/400th, 8 fr/sec, autofocus. Depending upon the lighting or backlighting, I may override +.3 or +.7 overexposure. It is perfect in this environment. Maybe a little heavy, but, Oh Well.
