Hey mixingmusic, the hummer is a great photo. I love the brilliant colors and detail. I will use that photo as a reference to how well I do if any hummers stop by my gardens this year.
Great shot! How close were you? How did you get that close? How much did you crop? Using a 100mm lens, that shot is just short of miraculous.

It captures the strangeness of the bird--that black eye!
I wouldn't have the guts to frame that close--but it made
all the difference.
The detail and lightng are just awesome. The feeder provides
interest and blances the reds in the bird, while the neutral
background and white feathers make the colors stand out.
I second the motion: WOW!
(My late father went through basic training at 29 Palms.
He didn't say anything about hummingbirds.)
