As a follow up to my shipping charges comment above, I want to also shed some light on my conversions with those at Adaroma & B&H. Long story short, I wasn't treated with respect and was told several false assumptions after asking a few questions of them. Needless to say I'm one of those that's not been pleased with Adaroma or B&H performance, support and advice. Thus I'll not be doing any business with them in the future. Both of these sites fail in my opinion, But according to this site and many other photo sites, my opinion doesn't about to squat. Just my 2 cents.

That is incorrect....Adorama Camera sells mostly through www.adorama.com, and charges shipping on USED items.

Adorama VIP members get free shipping on most items (plus extended 60 day returns AND free extended warranties) - and it costs less than Amazon Prime.

Shoprunner members also get free shipping from Adorama.

Thank you Helen for that clarification.....

My comment was not meant to be derogatory in any way, but to let the OP know shipping is a cost of doing business.

I know adaroma has their own site. I found it through eBay, by doing a search, and eBay and Amazon canned up at the top of the list. I would think this is what most people do, is search and go from there, starting at the top, this the statement......I just did a search from my phone and it was different, adorama shows up a few down the list as their own business......I guess it makes a difference which search engine....

The main point to the OP was, postage is a cost of business......

It seems I stepped on Jimmyt's toes. Again my response was not meant to be derogatory, which it seems to have been there taken that way.

Well I guess I will go back to eBay where they give free shipping.I purchased almost all my gear from Adorama but I think I will go elseware after this!

eBay, really? Adorama is an established company with good customer service and return policies. With eBay, you take your chances, especially with PayPal. Would not give up on Adorama over $11.25 in favor of eBay. This is just my opinion but to me your decision does not sound like a wise choice.

Yes I know but I couldn’t afford a new lens & I didn’t think they had used lenses on eBay by Adorama.I was a little afraid to buy a used lens on eBay by a private person because u don’t always know what you are getting. My lens will arrive today from Adorama & I am excited even if I had to pay shipping!

Several NAME companys sell on Ebay and Amazon, not just Adorama......it is just another way of getting their products to us......there is more than one way/place to sell.....you only need to be aware of UNKNOWN COMPANIES AND PEOPLE.

Not everything on Ebay has free shipping, so that is no reason to go back to Ebay as you say..........shipping is a cost of doing business. Most sellers have rules or ways to get free shipping, but not everything on Ebay has free shipping.......you can always contact the seller and ask for it also. Do not drop Adorama over this, they are a very reputable company with good customer service. I have purchased from them and B&H, both are great, as are others mentioned here.

Helen, Adorama is a class act, and as I have said many times, that in my many years of dealing with Adorama, and through many purchases, both large and small, I have ALWAYS been treated fairly in every aspect of the transaction. Adorama has always kept me informed by email during EVERY step of the process from when an order has been received, processed, mailed, and even confirmed that the item had been delivered. I have also received emails asking for input from me to see if I was happy with the product, if the packaging was adequate, etc. I still receive requests asking me to give product reviews and answer questions that other purchasers may have regarding purchases that I have made from Adorama. I consistently find that Adorama has good, solid, and competitive prices, a liberal return policy, with no bait, and switch. I also like that when I call Adorama with a question I am treated courteously and my question are answered without any pressure to buy, upgrade, get the extended warranty, etc. Sure the sales staff lets me know that I have some of these options, but never with any pressure. While I’m sure that I have left something out, I just want you know that I’m sold on Adorama!

Lastly, I am really saddened when some folks state a supposition (...Adorama sells mostly through amazon and ebay, and charges shipping....) as if it were a fact (fake news) and without ANY Factual context. Sadly this is the new way of operating, and it must be pointed out EVERY TIME it happens in EVERY ARENA to keep other folks from jumping on the same bandwagon. Bravo Zulu to both Helen & Adorama, JimmyT Sends.

Great comments about Adorama. That is a class operation, as long as you speak to someone in the States who speaks English. Their shipping, warranty and return policies are fair and reasonable.

Yes fake news" does appear to be dominating information flow, not only in politics but in private life, where it seems everyone with a half-baked opinion feels obligated to express regardless of its veracity.
for Adorama.

Your opinion and experience is noteworthy and I don't think anyone is trying to minimize it. We all have bad days and who knows what the persons you dealt with had going on in their lives on that day.

We supporters of Adorama or B&H are just trying to encourage you - based on OUR experience - to seek a supervisor's help when you have a problem and make sure that you take advantage of all possible avenues of remedy because when we had issues, they ended up getting satisfactorily resolved. We also need to make sure that we don't trash a company simply because we disagree with the policies that are stated plainly BEFORE we decide to purchase something !!! I think most folks are coming to the defense of a company they feel are improperly being bad mouthed based on nothing that the company did wrong or tried to hide. Hope all your dealings with the companies you purchase from can meet realistic demands of them like Adorama does. .
