These are from Thursday night. I tried something a little different this time out. I went from shooting manual to shutter priority. I think I will go back to everything manual. From the iso to the finish product.
I did have trouble with the white balance. Need some suggestions and comments about how to get better. I was shooting Auto wb.
Thanks,
Jules

Why not do a custom white balance when you get to the venue. Takes about 30 seconds max.

Have you tried using a grey card to set your WB with. You can set it once and not have to worry as your lighting obviously is not going to change during your indoor shoot.

These are great Jules!!! You sure caught expressions! I shoot on Shutter pri. and auto WB. But I am just experimenting. Your Gym looks pretty good for lighting. What was your SS and ISO? I'm shooting tomorrow nite with the Canon 200 2.8.

Nikon D500 70-200 2.8 vr, 24-70 2.8, and 50 mm 1.8. ss 1/1000 at 2.8 iso 8000. Made the mistake of not lowering my iso and ss to 1/800 would have been enough. To much noise at 8000. I messed up.

Jules these are really good I send back the canon 80D it was not working out with my lenses 70-200mf/2.8 IS or 24-70mIIf/2.8 so I order the 6D markII got a high school game 1-8-18 I am going to use the 24-70 2.8 have it on 320 2.8 320 i think the full frame will be better than the crop if you can think of a better setting will be glad to heard it.

I would use the 70-200 2.8, crank up the iso and above all else shoot tight. Wait for the play to come to you. A lot of cropping or sharpening will make a lot of noise. If you shoot tight you won't have to worry about to much.

First one I used a flash (ok here in Las Vegas) 1/500 @3.2 iso 2000
Last one 1/1000 @ 2.8 iso 5000
