There is a lady that fills boxes of food and small gifts for people who don't have much. She has 240 volunteers who deliver the boxes to the community. Me and my family go and feed those volunteers pulled pork sandwiches with martain onions and potato salad. At no cost to anyone. We pick up the tab.

Visiting my wife in the hospital.

This is not about wishing anything to anyone, I could not care less.

This is more about asking you what you are doing to be 'in the spirit of christmas'.

My wife and I will be hosting a dinner for a family of four (divorced single mom three kids), a single elderly woman who lives by herself, has a bad reputation but is really a nice person and few other folks who would be alone otherwise.

So, what are you doing this season?

Ignoring it as much as possible, told the girl friend when I met her 12 or so years ago to forget Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries ect, they're just all over commercialized.

We buy/do things for each other often, just found it so much more satisfying to give when we feel like it not when we're scheduled to.

As for family, I have 2 brothers and a sister with-in 25 miles, haven't seen or heard from any of them in 5 yrs and don't miss any of them, and I'm positive they think the same way about me.

One thing I do like about this time of year is the polar bear swim in the Columbia on New Years Day. Participated 12 of the last 20 years.

I hope you all have Peace and Happiness in you're lives this Christmas as for me I wish for Peace and Quiet which will bring happiness!

Merry Christmas

Swede

Actually "I could care less" is a common mistake. It means one cares to a degree. I believe OP is saying he does not care, so "I could not care less" is absolutely correct.

Indeed that's correct!

I somehow got it backwards.

God bless you for your generous spirit. I give a lot, but don't divulge what I do. It lives in me and the recipients.

My getting in the spirit for Christmas is making cards for my family and friends. I'll probably give out 50 or more this year. Every year I plan to start earlier but most of the work comes in the 3 weeks before Christmas. This year that was shortened to two weeks as we were on a cruise (paddle-wheel steamship) from Memphis down the Mississippi to New Orleans from the first til the 9th of December. With any luck, I'll have the pictures I took off-loaded the camera and posted on UHH before my birthday (Jan 1; no, I wasn't the first born in Annapolis, MD that year; more like the 3rd or 4th.)

I pray that your wife AND YOU do well this Christmas season and she recovers well. While taking care of your wife don't forget to take good care of you as well. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

If I can force myself out of this computer chair, I'll finish putting up the decorations, get the turkey started thawing in the fridge, wrap Christmas presents - and then take a nap.

Amen, Jerry. Much the same here.

Wow, I love it that we're mostly such old curmudgeons here--careful, I resemble that remark. We do not celebrate any holiday during the winter season although we recognize that many people do and we wish them the best at whatever they do--happiness and good will are very much needed in any quantity during this age. This year, however, we're hosting my sister and brother-in-law on her first trip being in [mostly] remission from cancer. She's big on Christmas but knows she won't get it here but we've arranged for her to attend the Christmas Eve show with neighbors at her church and we'll do everything to make her feel the season although her chances of a "White Christmas" are pretty close to zero or none here. Our best to you all this season whatever you are are aren't and look forward to our next year of sniping at and helping each other.

"This is not about wishing anything to anyone, I could not care less."

So why post anything if you do not care? The obvious curiosity speaks volumes. BTW - Merry Christmas!

Because I care about other people just not their holidays. I don't mind keeping track of people I know and I don't mind wishing them well.

I'll be working. Somebody needs to make sure the milk makes it to your table. I do enjoy seeing the lights as I drive around. Sadly there don't seem to be as many as there used to be.

That is sad about the lights.
Here in Williamsport, PA there seems to be an uptick in lights on houses, especially in our neighborhood some have really started going all out and many others just newly putting lights out. We like to think we have been an inspiration for this increase but it sure makes for a beautiful neighborhood.

Thank you for the inspiration. You have reminded me to get off 'auto' and manually REFOCUS on the SPIRIT Of CHRISTMAS.

Hang in there, sodapop. I'll be saying a little prayer and hoping for a good outcome for your wife. Please, let us know how things turn out.
