Has anyone had any experience with the Oben CT 2491 carbon Fiber Tripod with the gimbal head or the other heads available for it. It is sold by B&H for $ 449.00 It appears to be a good value. Thank You in advance

Seems Oben is B&H brand. I have a travel Oben and it has broken several times. They did fix it for me, but it broke again. The plastic inside breaks and the leg just comes all the way out. I would not get another Oben.

The only Oben product I have is a tilt head for one of my monopods....My tripods/ monopods are all CF 3 Legged Thing pods...

What ever you do, do not go cheep you will regret it. Go to youtube to check on tripod reviews. You will not go wrong with a "Gitzo" yes they are costly but it will be the last and only tripod you will ever own.

I lied, I do have a Manfrotto 681B monopod that isn't CF

Do search for Gene 51. He is right on and understands physics and has evidence to support his opinions. Almost most reviewers just say that their tripod is great without any supporting evidence other than hearsay. Remember, it is vibration that is important, not weight tripod can support.
I could have saved $250 if I had read Gene's original post. I now have a $250 tripod in the closet. With the kind of money you are spending, you are close to an outstanding tripod to hand down to future generations. Buy the best an cry once, and it doesn't have to be the great Gitzo's.

I have a Winston CF 3 legged thing and it seems to be really well built and sturdy. They're proud of them but I've heard too many photographers saying to spend the bucks and buy quality.

I have one of those and I really like it. I bought a ball swivel head for it and I'm really pleased with it.
