The monotone is excellent, and the color one is overcooked for my taste.

Just a quick note on B&W. Green grass equates to 18% gray (the same as a gray card for exposure). You can use the grass to adjust the exposure of your B&W image.

Thanks for that advice Ron.

I like your B&W treatment better. The color looks overcooked to me.

To be honest I find the color to be overcooked. I prefer the mono but would have not personally gone towards sepia with it. I am more a fan of deep blacks & contrast. But all this is part of the enjoyment of photography. There’s as many views as photographers. Nevertheless, it’s a fine image in my view. My compliments.

A new edit of the color image is on page 2 of this thread. Thanks for commenting.

I tend to favor b&w photography because I like monochrome images. In this particular case I do not like the sepia toning, I do not believe it is the appropriate subject for that. Today we are associating sepia with old and it tends to work better that way.
If the conversion to b&w is made keep in mind that some manipulations important to the quality of b&w is in order and I mean using dodging and burning in selectively to improve on the tonalities. Contrast is very important in b&w also.
It is a nice shot and the conversion should help it considerably.

Try selective color. It's an old style I happen to like.

The B&W seems too busy in shades, where the color has more depth and color enhanced.

The color picture drew my attention immediately. So I pick color on this one. The sepia one, just was not there for me.

I like the B&W version better. You might look at a B&W that does not have a brownish or sepia tone--that may look even better. The color is too vibrant and harsh to my taste.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

Both, but the monotone seems to emphasize the layers more. Beautiful shot, Bmac.

Thanks Donna, glad you liked them.

The monotone version is OK but the color version is way too over processed for my taste.

I do like B&W, but in this case there is much more interest in the color rendition. A very nice landscape image!
