It’s not the immigrants that are causing the problem. It’s those idiotiotic nationals claiming political correctness, etc. that in my experience immigrants don’t give a shit about.

Children should be taught that there are different religions and they all have beliefs and traditions. While each religion may be different, there are no “good” or “bad” religions. So, at this time of the year, they should be given a chance to see a menorah and learn its significance, a Christmas display and those beliefs, and learn about Kwanza. A lesson on Islam and Hinduism during their major holidays would be appropriate. Under our current bullshit system, children are ignorant of religions other than their own, and that ignorance often leads to fear and hatred.

'Liberalism' happened. Politically-correct; non-offensive; safe place; ...

Can't hardly wait to see what the growing trend toward 'Socialism' will bring.

To stick within the First Amendment I suppose schools have to do all or nothing. The government is not allowed to embrace a single specific religion. This is why paranoid school leaders are telling staff to avoid mention of Christmas. I would opt for embracing all holidays celebrated by students or staff at the school. Teaching INCLUSION is to teach TOLERANCE.

Agree. And while the government can’t “embrace a single specific religion” there’s no reason why it can’t teach “about” religion without taking sides.

The fact is that there has been a war on Christianity for a while now. The religion of "no-God" is a rabid one, not content to just let everyone worship the way they please, they won't stop until everyone bows down to the god of their religion (secular humanism)

Religions survive and do well in secular environs. It is there that individuals feel free to express their beliefs. Where the "war" is waged is in the atmosphere where one religious deems himself to be the "right one" to the detriment of others. (See notation in the above missive.)

In this country, the USA, one of the standing principles is having the freedom of religion. This does include no-religion. As an immigrant, I do find the actions of many here are most hypocritical when it comes to this stated freedom.

Have a meaningful Chanukah, Yule day, Winter Solstice day, Christmas (new), and Kwanzaa, and any other celebratory days in between.

The few are dictating to the masses. As long as no one stands their ground, this will continue.

That's strange - no one from the religion of "no-God" has ever come knocking on my door or stopped me on the street to try to convert me.

Great ideas, a shame our schools are so myopic.

Not the schools, but the teachers. And be prepared for worse as the currently training teachers have been indoctrinated to the left more than taught how to think.

It will end when you as an individual have a faith in your mind that can stand on its own feet and there is no need to shove it down other's throats! Something the Founding Fathers believed was the basis of a free society!

An elementary school principal in Nebraska was placed on leave after telling teachers to avoid decorating their classrooms with Christmas-themed ornaments so as not to offend those who don’t celebrate the holiday.

The principal at Manchester Elementary School, identified by Fox affiliate KPTM as Jennifer Sinclair, sent out a memo earlier this week with guidelines as to what is considered appropriate for classroom decorations and assignments.

Teachers reportedly were told that generic winter-themed items, such as sledding and scarves, and the “Frozen” character Olaf, were acceptable.

Decorations that included Santa, Christmas trees, reindeer, green and red items and even candy canes, however, were not acceptable for the elementary school.

The candy canes, according to KETV, were prohibited because Sinclair deemed them to have religious significance. “Historically, the shape is a ‘J’ for Jesus. The red is for the blood of Christ, and the white is a symbol of his resurrection,” she reportedly wrote. “This would also include different colored candy canes.”

“I feel uncomfortable that I have to get this specific, but for everyone’s comfort, I will,” Sinclair reportedly wrote in the memo.

The Elkhorn School District told Fox News in a statement that “the memo does not reflect the policy of Elkhorn Public Schools regarding holiday symbols in the school.”

The district’s policy states that “Christmas trees, Santa Claus and Easter eggs and bunnies are considered to be secular, seasonal symbols and may be displayed as teaching aids provided they do not disrupt the instructional program for students.”

Sinclair was placed on administrative leave as of Thursday morning.

I am all for NOT insulting people of different religions. But that includes educating kids about diversity, which should include displays of a variety of beliefs.
