I realize that a small number in this total were probably due to legal drugs. Secure the borders to only legal entry. You can also check 2017 and the numbers are not much different.

It’s not the drug companies, dealers, cartels, it’s the human and mentality that takes drugs for recreation and escape from reality. Every drug victim had a choice to take the drug or smoke the weed and made the choice.

Walls are ok for one thing, building buildings. For keeping out undesirables ( in some people's words ) it's total crap. Being an immigrant from Germany I do know a thing or two about walls.

Huey be serious. The states with the most lax gun laws have the most deaths by guns and these same states have the highest death rate due to drug over doses! Also, for the most part these states are poor rural states. It is interesting to note that areas of extreme poverty in large cities have the same correlation. Please try doing research before posting nonsens!

The drug companies in collusion with the doctors has caused the high opioid disorder in this country. The were prescribing opioids like candy and the patients became addicted... Thankfully, the problem has been identified, the drug companies and doctors have changed their methodology and hopefully the epidemic will clear up...

If you really want to stop this plague, follow Portugal's lead. They got their IV drug use substantially down, reduced crime and improved the standard of living by doing one thing.
