There are several Best Buy's in Rochester, NY, but, as far as I know, only one big one with most of the major cameras all lined up to be handled and tried out, in Marketplace Mall. That is also where they have the most knowledgeable personnel.

I bought my last two DSLRs from our local Best Buy. The first one I bought, I found out I could order online, save $100 over the in-store price, and pick it up at the service desk (saved me time and $100). One of those quirky deals on line that year I suppose.
Last year I replaced the broken previous camera after five years' of service and the model I wanted was not in stock so I paid for it in the store and had it sent to the house. Two days later I get a ding on my phone and I look at the message which said that Best Buy just delivered my package. I thought no they didn't else I would've heard a knock on the door or the doorbell or at least the dogs going ballistic. I got up out of my recliner, unlocked the front door, and there is the package from Best Buy. I certainly didn't like that they would drop off an $1800 package without a signature though! They sure racked up some sales from us last year - a new laptop for me and a new refrigerator besides the camera. Felt like I should buy stock in the company after all that.

I have always had the online price pulled up and they honor it.
Was there yesterday for the same reason. Did you decide on a camera?

I discovered that Best Buy...specifically the one near the Mall of Georgia, NE of Atlanta..has a very large selection of cameras on display to handle.
I had been looking at adding a smaller camera for travel....reading reviews...watching YouTube videos. I pretty much ruled out all the cameras I handled.
I also handled most of the DSLR’s I could have an interest in....and decided I didn’t want to hike 5 miles with a full frame camera.
With camera stores being almost as hard to find as phone booths, I thought someone might find this information helpful. I would think that some Best Buy stores in other areas would have similar displays. And yes, I would consider buying from Best Buy, when and if I decide on a new camera.

Nikon alone makes about thirty different cameras. Stores have to decide what to stock and display. That's why online shopping is so popular.

Some of us are no longer young and have knees that remind us of every mountain we ever climbed and every 20-mile hike we took.
Always look at both the in-store price AND the online price (Best Buy and other stores). Sometimes online prices are cheaper. You can buy it online and pick it up in the store. Not sure why the online price would be cheaper but I've seen it a lot. You may also be able to find coupon codes online for that store, which saves more money.
Our Best Buys near here do not have big camera sections, but we do still have a "real" camera store (Dodd). I'm wondering how long those places will be able to hang on with so many online choices. And shipping is getting faster, too. I still like going into a real camera store and touching everything like a kid in a toy store! (when I typed that last sentence auto correct made "everything" into "everyone". So I'm glad I caught that before I sent it, lest you all think I'm creepy and weird....lol).

Depends on how old you are and how much of a fanatic walker you are.

Bestbuy will price match even when you order from them in their stores. I used points to get several lens.
How old are you? Just curious.
I bought a Canon 7D at Best Buy’s many years ago, it failed while we were at Hilton Head..several months later.
I took it to the local BB, at HH they exchanged it, walked out with a new 7D
No local camera store would do that, I know of,,
I still have the camera,,
Best Buy has added a restocking fee to certain types of products because they were getting too many people who were quite obviously buying things, especially portable things such as a camera, for an event or a trip and then returning them. Some customers were doing this over and over again.

Best Buy is hit or miss in my area. In one suburban store they have only point and shoot cameras. In another store they have a large display of Canon, Nikon, Sony, Olympus, Panasonic and Fuji camera’s, and most popular lenses. One thing they do consistently is push their extended warranties, even after you tell them you are not interested. My preferences are still Cameta, B&H, and Adorama because their sales staffs seem to be more knowledgeable.
Our Bestbuy In Brentwoods, TN has trained personnel manning their camera department. Most of them have cameras hanging off their sides. They also offer free camera sessions once a week or you can reserve a time slot (Not during holidays). They have a separate area for Nikon, Canon, and Sony. Unfortunately they don’t have the high end Fuji’s or Fuji lens.

Before you make a purchase, you should compare prices. I have found that Best Buy is not always the best buy for cameras, but it is a great place to look at your choices.
