In your own opinion what is your favorite all around carry lens that you want on your cameras 99% of the time. While walking down the street or in the mountains. If you could have just one what would it be. Gary D

Definitely the 24-70 on my full frame DSLR. Prior to that, it was the 17-55 on my crop frame camera. Both good mid-range zooms.

Tough call. I only own six but it would be my 18-135mm I suppose. I'd HAVE to have a prime with me though so I'm disqualified.

24-105 on Canon 6d, 18-135 on 7d2, 18-105 on Sony a6000, what ever my Powershot S100, G16, and SX60 HS come with. :-)

It cant be just one lens. Really like the 16 to 70mm Sony Zeiss on 6300 cropped. FFrame is my first choice Sony a7s II. The 55mm Zeiss is a gem.
But not great for all situations to much bokeh. Like the 70 200 f4 Sony great lens. The cheaper then the 2.8 which is north of 2k.
the Nikon 85mm a legacy lens. Rokinon budget lens are amazing for the price. I have the 14, 24 and 50mm cines they make still lens too.

Some observations from now shooting video 75% of the time and stills.
I like primes. But live situations need some zoom to reframe. 16mm is the best of the wides.
Many folks love the 24 to 70mm's. But I find them lacking in reach.
Crazy that the lens on my RX10 III bridge camera 24 to 600mm zeiss f2.4 to 4. is the most versatile.
So the favorite is the one I think I need that day.

It is a toss up between the Canon 18-135mm and the Canon 70-200L f4.

As a newbie to DSLR with a less than year old Nikon D3400 and a collection of 4 lenses to date, Nikor 18-55mm zoom kit lens. It has been my best overall situation, indoor outdoor, people and places go to lens.

I vote for my 24-120 Nikkor also. Most of the time when I am just going out for pictures without anything in particular in mind, that is what I carry. BUT, having started out long ago in the film days when I only had the 50mm 1.4 that came with my Pentax (still think it is the sharpest lens I have ever owned) I find myself sticking a 50 on my D810 and just walking around with it.

Full Frame Camera: 24-70mm f/2.8
APS-C Camera: 18-55mm f/3.5 – f/5.6
Micro 4/3 Camera: 12-35mm f/2.8

All three of these lenses produce approximately the same field of view range.

24mm is wide angle, and 70mm is short portrait/short telephoto range on full frame. The other lenses produce similar results on their respective native formats.

I have three Nikon DX bodies and my most used walk around is the 16-80 EDIF. On my Fuji X body it's the 18-55

As an all around walking lens, and with few lenses and DX camera: Nikon 16-80 2.8-4
(before that, I used the 18-55 kit lens)
