Any suggestions for a fairly simple photo editing Software program?
There are so many out there but the ones that are extremely complicated and might need a Masters Degree to figure out are not needed at this time.

You might start with Photo Shop Elements. You buy it on disk, it has some of the features of both LR and PS in that it is an organizer and editing program. It has a guided mode with built in tutorials where it walks you through how to do tasks. Once you learn them you can go to the full Edit mode. Then there is a program named "Elements+" that costs $12 and will add in many of the PS features that PSE doesn't come with. Many people never feel the need for more advance apps.

If you save your original out of camera files you will have them for the future if you decide to move on to LR and PS (PSE is mostly 8 bit) and a lot of what you did in PSE will sync with the more advanced apps.

Excellent advice, including the extra $12 for Elements +

Very limited in function.
Only does JPEGs 16mb or smaller.
And it is built for the Adobe Flash environment - many don't trust Flash for security issues.

A learning curve is not the same as a master's degree. Don't shy away from learning something because it seems daunting at first. You may find that it is easier to use once you have learned what you need to know. Any of the Adobe iterations od Photoshop, as well as Lightroom, will work. Your image quality standards will determine which software product will best suit your needs.

Yes. I started out with Photoshop then moved to Lightroom. Which isn't easy and was a struggle to master, but now they are both second nature to my workflow.

If you are referring to Photoshop Express, my copy does RAW with aplomb!

I had never heard of it and looked it up, those were listed under Cons. I just googled it again and found different info. Could be the first search got information about an older version or some app with a similar name. The one I found the first time was for smart phones and tablets using android.

It still is for smart phones and tablets. And, you get it from the Android, Apple or Windows app stores.

I put it on my phone first. Then I put it on my Windows computer. I normally use the real Photoshop and Lightroom, but am continously surprised at what this "Express" version does.

PhotoFiltre is a free digital editing program - will do the simplest tasks you may wish to do very easily, but will do much more if you should so wish. Later on you may wish to invest in the pro version, which behaves in a similar way but has pro level tools.

FastStone Image Viewer is a good basic, starter program. It's free so nothing lost if/when you outgrow it. It's more than just a viewer however.

The simplest photo editing software I can think of is Picasa by Google. Google has elected not to support it anymore or make any updates. It is available for download, just Google Picasa 3. Also, it is free. I have been using it for years.
