I love taking pictures. I love Jesus and all things Christian. I am looking for a Christian theme to keep me busy in my old age. I don't want to shoot flowers ,insects, landscapes, or animals. I have ruled out churches and crosses. Things like Christian signs on buildings, Christian motorcyclists back patches are more what I am thinking of. Maybe trying to capture the love, mercy, or faith of Christians in some way. Any help would sure be appreciated. Blessings. Bob

There are a lot of Christians out there. Unfortunately, examples of Christianity in practice are becoming much harder to find in these contentious times.

How about statuettes, rosary beads, medallions etc hanging from rear view mirrors or mounted on dashboards in cars?

I know that this won't be photography related and please don't take offense because none is intended but how about instead of photography themed Christianity you maybe hit the street and pass out a few tracts and take images of those whom you talk to?

Again...this isn't a dig on you or criticism at all...the thought just hit me.

That would be a good way to obey the great commission and get some meaningful images at the same time.

Hi Rpavich: Your idea is good and not so out there, BUT I am already sort of doing that. I am a Chaplain in a Florida prison and deal with about 300 out of the 1200 men in my prison. I have 1000s of pictures of me and them or just them. They know that if they come to me for counseling or to discuss spiritual matters, they will get a picture or as many copies as they want for their relatives. It's really a big deal for them and great memories for me. They come for the picture. They get the Gospel. We have numerous ex child molesters and ex murders whos lives have been transformed by the Gospel. Some want to be pastors! Almost everyone in my prison, saved or unsaved, would know names like RC Sproul or McArthur!
Blessings: Bob

Oh that's right! I remember you telling me that.

On a side note...I'm planning on retiring to Port St. Lucie in a couple of years so maybe we could hook up for photography and the gospel spreading one day!

Bob, maybe an open Bible held in the beautiful, seasoned hands of a mate or the open Bible on bed and through prison bars. Would speak.

Maybe you could find a local Christian Motorcycle Association chapter. I work with the Kairos Ministry, but we aren’t allowed to take cameras into most of our institutions.

Hi Edr: For 15 years I was the NY State Coordinator for CMA. I went to hundreds of biker events and personally started about 10 chapters in NY plus about another 4 in Florida where I now live. At the time, I was not too concerned with photography. I am now kicking myself in the head! The color full people, bikes, and events would surely be exactly what I am now looking for. I traveled about 50,000 miles a year on a bike going to biker events representing and coordinating CMA events in the northeast. The local CMA chapter here in Fort Myers, which I started about ten years ago, just does not have enough weekly action to warrant my invovlement. Actually this biker/picture thing is exactly what I am trying to duplicate without traveling all over, I'm now 75 years old! As to Kairos, I am their local chaplain in my prison. They do a good work, but you are correct. No pictures allowed other than a group shot three times a year at the last Sunday services. Thanks for trying to help. Blessings: Bob

My suggestion is to look for 'Christian' actions in everyday life. Somebody helping a person in need - not just at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter (although are always appropriate) but in everyday life. A person helping to load groceries into the car of an elderly person who is having trouble getting things out of the basket and into the car. Somebody thoughtfully and intentionally listening to a person who obviously is in need of a good listener. We need to catch more of what Jesus told us to do going on in the world so we will be known as people set apart. Capture the actions of living out our faith. See James for some insight - after all isn't faith without deeds dead ? Deeds = action = interaction.

Not looking to capture cliches here, just the evidence of our (or others) Christianity.

I have just been going section to section to see what was going on. I think this is one of the most uplifting things I have read in a long, long time. Have a very Merry Christmas, it's just around the corner.
