I'm game, this is completely off the topic. Just received a like new in the box Minolta 17-35 F2.8-4 lens. It is so much like new I have the warranty card, do you think it would still be honored if I fill it out and send it in?

The most you can lose is $0.48 postage (or whatever it is these days) and a little ink.

Given the track record of this forum I can't guarantee that would not happen.

I am really jealous... Most I ever had was a front end loader on my tractor on my farm. But it was not very good for digging. And now I am way to old to want to do any actual work, and I live in a gated community where they would really get bent out of shape to see me riding around the neighborhood in a track-hoe.
My first tractor just had a bucket. I had rented a field (in New England) that was full of rocks. I used the bucket to remove them. Made a real mess. For many of them I just dug around them and made a ramp and pulled them up with chains, then rolled them over to the side of the field. Eventually cracked the frame on the tractor. (I welded it back together and the tractor lasted 25 more years).
I uncovered one rock that was larger than my truck. By that time I had the backhoe, so I just dug a hole next to it and pushed it in so it was a little further below the surface and wouldn't catch the plow. I later found out from one of the older local farmers that there used to be people who made their living "set'lin rocks".
Is it possible to have a discussion on no topic at all? Just miscellaneous ramblings?

Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can.
And when it's time for leavin',
I hope you'll understand,
That I was born a ramblin' man.
I know, silly, but it seemed to fit!

If I recall, that is a very nice lens. Being a Sony/Minolta guy (still have my 7000- still works, just looks bad!!) I have an armoire full of old Minolta lenses, and newer Sony and 3rd party...still shoot with them (4 Sony DSLR's)
There is a scene near my house that I want to take a picture of at sunrise. Why does the sun have to rise in the morning? Afternoon would be much better.
This is a fun thread.
Owned and used a Cat 305c mini-excavator for a couple of years on our 5 acres in west Hawaii Island to move sheet lava around to find dirt in which to plant stuff. Couldn't have done it without it. Eventually, though, replacing rubber treads got to be too much trouble and expense so sold it for about what I paid for it. Don't really miss it though.

I too, have mostly Minolta lens for my A99 and for the price they are the best, my favorite right now is the 100-300 APO I, shot this with it.

Take pictures at sunset. Isn't that the same thing? That way no getting out of bed early.

Unfortunately, the direction I want to take the picture, the sun will only be visible in the picture at sunrise.
Your reply reminds me of an incident in college. I took a photography class and the assignment was to take a picture at sunrise. I didn't want to get up that early, so I figured I'd take a picture at sunset, he won't know the difference. Where are you? I handed in the assignment, the instructor said "nice picture. But the assignment was to that a picture at sunrise." I don't know how he knew. Especially since the picture was a black and white.

Did you pass the class? I took a photography class in college....totally unrelated to my major, just for fun. If I'd have had to be up at sunrise I would have dropped the class.
