Got an opportunity to pickup a Nikon D700. Camera is in mint condition, original box with everything which came with it from the original owner.
Camera was used as a backup and has 11,182 shots. I have tried the camera and it appears to function correctly. I will be using it with my Nikon 85mm 1.8D lens.
I already have compact flash memory.
Gentlemen is asking $490. I would like some feedback as to the price? Reasonable?
This would be my first full frame camera.
Thanks to all in advance ..............
Looks like a great deal!
If you don’t buy it, let me know where to find it.
I just checked the prices of D700 camera bodies on the KEH Photo web site. Their prices range from $487 for Bargain quality to $754 for Excellent Plus quality (90% to 96% of original quality, may show minor wear on close inspection.) Hope that gives you some idea of retail prices for this body for comparison purposes. jack
After checking what they’ve sold for on eBay, this seems like a very good deal.

Nikon D700 in mint condition for $490. You did very good. It's a great camera, it'll serve you well.
I've been using mine for several years now, just can't part with it.
I came from a Nikon D300. The D700 may look like the D300 but the performance of the D700 is far superior. Better colors, clarity, low light performance with little to no noise and the full frame sensor gives me a wider photo. I will never go back to APS-C and would gave gone full frame a long time ago had I know what I know now. I am amazed at the difference.
PS The D700 looking like my old D300 saved me from learning a new camera. With a couple of extras in the menu the D300 does not have, the D700 operation is essentially the same as the D300.
Finding a barely used D700 in like new condition with just over 11,036 shots from the original owner for $490 was, too me, the deal of the year.
I am a happy shooter
You are stealing the camera for that price.
I went ahead and bought the Nikon D700 for $490.

That is a good price (the range covers several hundred $300 - 600) and even though it is an older body, the average shutter life for those is around 150K, and I've seen many listings for bodies with much more than that, some in the 250K-350K range, still happily clicking along. 12 MP with larger pixels yields fine images. YOU DID GOOD! You might have found one cheaper, but probably not better! Good luck and enjoy!!!!!!!
Wow! What a great price. I recently paid $700 for one with 3K clicks and thought that was a good price. By the way, I normally shoot a D7200 and a D750 but I'm finding I really LOVE the D700. I'm using it for almost all of my magazine, catalog, and book photography (I seldom need pix larger than 6" x 5") leaving the other two as field cameras. I know the old D700 might be considered a step back by some on UHH but I'm sure loving it! Take care & ...
You got a great deal. I have had a D700 since 2010 and still use it at times. I upgraded to a D800 a couple of years ago but still rely on the 700 from time to time.

Glad to hear I got a great deal. One thing is for certain, I will never go back to aps-c after experiencing full frame. Even if the D700 is 10 years old.
The 1.5 crop factor is not worth losing the better color, better dynamic range and better low light performance of a full frame sensor.
So far I have managed to shot in a low light restaurant hand held @ ISO 6400 with nice results and almost no noise. DxO removed what little noise there was.
At ISO 3200 and lower there is no noise I can see.
