Rather than "Happy" may I suggest "Thoughtful, grateful?" With only a slight hiatus between WWI and WWII we have continually been at war with someone. The military fighters pay the greatest price for this.

I think we should all be proud of our military service. We gave, the Good and the Bad, but nevertheless, it was an important time in our lives and it helped us mold our lives into what we are.
