Color lacking in pictures of fall leaves.

And this post doesn’t feed them?
Of course it does! But it's not FOR them.
The histogram is a great tool for accurate exposure. Using it and a polarizing filter correctly could be very helpful.
Try bracketing the exposure along with the above and you should see improvement.
Sometimes I found it necessary to revisit the site several times to find the best conditions for great photos.
This is a lot of extra effort. The greater the effort the greater the the result.

Are you using the Picture Controls? If it's on neutral, colors will be less vivid.
It's also possible that the camera overexposed in the bright sunlight and colors became washed out.
I set to neutral so that the studio can enhance if it wants to. The other camera settings such as vivid seem to me to be just settings for those who will never use Adobe or any other digital photo program to edit shots with.

I use the Vivid setting on my M8 and the results are terrific, you might try, both ways with and without and do a comparison. The results are not overdone but noticdeable.
so because its "the internet" its ok to just except bad behavior? your contributing to the problem by ignoring it!!
Time to stop commenting and move forward on helpful topics.
This is a little off the wall but Luminar has a foliage enhancer filter that works for greens and yellows.
Very hard to make a suggestion without a sample image...

The Adobe apps are great, but if your not exceptional with them you can do more harm than good. I am a graphic designer and have used PS since its inception and i consider myself an expert with with but even i have come across some problems that cant be fixed. My advice if your going to use Adobe programs you should become fluent with them for only you can meet your expectations.

Lonewolf 456 - I don't either. No matter what, there always seems to be some ###### on this site that needs to make some unnecessary and unwanted comment. I just don't get it. It happens all too often, and it's not called for. Some new photographer to this site is just asking a simple question to get some feedback about something they don't understand and along comes #### running off at the mouth(keyboard) with inappropriate comments. I was under the impression that this site was about sharing our experience and skills with other upcoming photographers. My mother always taught us when we were kids, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything.
I think that the administrators or monitors of this site need to put out a warning to the person(s) making unwelcome comments that if they continue to make crass remarks they will be banned from this site. I for one am sick and tired of having to see inappropriate comments.

I fully agree. If we don't help newcomers, where are our new members going to come from? I thought the main purpose of this site was to connect photographers of all levels of skill so that we could all learn from the experience. Fortunately, there are enough members willing to answer a question that many consider basic but these folks with negative still leave a bad taste in my mouth.
I owned a photo lab for almost 20 years. There is a whole lot of difference between what YOU see and what YOUR camera and or FILM sees. In the film days there were different films to achieve your photo shooting "style". High Speed b&w film got you graininess. Low speed Agfa Ultra 50 got you very high saturation and so on and so on. When I shot fall colors with film, I ALWAYS used Agfa Ultra 50. Now that I don't shoot film anymore and use a D850, I set it on "VIBRANT" to get the same effect.

I do not believe it's not okay to accept bad behavior because it's the internet, let alone any circumstance. It is inevitable that those instances will occur on any social media platform, as well as socially acceptable behavior. My suggestion to this new member to ignore the BS that occurs in some threads and focus on the relevant answers was designed to be helpful, no more, no less.
I fail to see how ignoring poor behavior is contributing to the problem. The best way to handle that is to report the offending post to admin for a determination. Ignoring snarky or rude comments diminishes the power and control the person making them derives. With respect, what are your suggestions to remedy this problem?

Confrontation on the Internet is just wasted electrons.
