Not fair and not accurate. The VFW Post 1707 is one of hundreds named after WWI warriors. Don't mean to hijack the post....

Thanks for looking in Tintwhistle I do know that The USA lost many fine men. This post is for all our fallen warriors.

Remberence Sunday 11 11 2018

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.
If you wish feel free to add your lost family hero's name.
My Grandfather
WW1 Casualty: Private 12615 Samuel Thomas Heyes
Gallipoli. killed 10 August 2015

A moving tribute, but did you mean 10 August 1915, not 2015?
My cousin was a radio operator on a B-17 shot down over Germany. He survived and spent a few years in Stalag 4. My uncle was wounded in Germany near the end of the war. He was only 19 at that time. Lived to be about 80.

Hello WF2B sorry I'm late with the reply but I missed you out unintended. The date I put on was just a reminder that rememberence day is on Sunday the 11th this Sunday coming in the UK. Thank you for looking in.

I had not heard of Gallipoli until I attended the Australia dedication of their Vietnam Memorial in Canberra. Just unbelievable.....page after page of casualties. What bravery and sacrifice. Sadly, I suppose this is what happens when civilians plan an invasion against the advise and opinions of professionals.

Beautiful shot, Jim! Al's uncle, Vincent Nase, died a day before he was to come home in WWI.
