The problem is that there are more photographers using Nikon and Canon. Pentax is known to me since 1958. At the time they did not have the best glass but that has changed considerably and today Pentax cameras and lenses are of excellent quality.

The Pentax K-1 DSLR has gotten great reviews and has image quality equivalent to its competitors as a lower price. The focus today seems to be on mirrorless cameras but Pentax has not been that aggressive in this area. This could be why there have not been many posts regarding Pentax recently.

I shot during my film days a Sears branded 1000 MXB which I was told was the Pentax 1000. Always great pictures and function. I still have it. I've been shooting with the Pentax K-50 for several years with never an issue and great pictures. I recently had a GAS attack and bought the Pentax K-70. Plus the batteries are the same and the IR remote. For a weather sealed camera and the features it's price was far better than anything from the "major" guys. And, the pictures are still great! I also shoot the Panasonic GX85 and the Panasonic Z300 if I want to lighten my load.

If more people here owned Pentax, you would see more comments. Pentax was taken over by Ricoh, and the future of the company is in doubt. Ricoh recently killed off Keenai, software for FitBit because of concerns about profitability. If Pentax doesn't earn enough money, it will be history.

right on target.

I still use my Pentax MX which I bought in the late 70's.
Has a 28-50mm f/1.35-1.45 zoom and auto winder.
I think it's better then the Canon AE-1 that I have.

Positive, positive, positive. They have been selling cameras that have been weatherproof a lot longer than most. And that is not the only good quality. They are less known because they haven't been selling Pentaxes as many or as long as the Canons and Nikons. But their product is good but not in the limelight like Canon and Nikon.

Not quite right. 1919 is not early enough for you? Asahi Pentax released their first SLR in 1957, Nikon in 1959. Asahi and now Ricoh choose to put their money in to product development not marketing. How many advertisements do you see for Leica, Hasselblad, Toyo, or Sinar?

I have a K3 which I love but it is a bit heavier and bigger than my Sony a6000. I also have a Pentax sf10 film camera that has been very reliable.

Been using Pentax since screw mount days. Still using some of those lenses on my K3. Best auxiliary feature is the dust spotter. No need for loupes or any other gadget. Love the built in body stabilization for older lenses and no AA filter. Two card slots are great. Mine came with the extra grip which can use either Li Ion or AA cells, but I never use it....easier to carry and extra battery. Take lots of verticals the way I learned from rangefinder days. Wish for tilting LCD as it is getting more difficult to bend down these days. I could lust for a K1, but I really don't NEED it.

Check my tag line: Pentax K-3, K-5, K-20D, K-100D, K1000, K2 DMD, Spotmatic. And in the past I have additionally owned a K1000SE, KM, ME, ME Super, and MX. I've wanted a KX but never bought that model. Plus over 30 Pentax branded lenses!

I came close to buying a Nikon FM2 once. Also own a Minolta Spotmeter F, Canon PIXMA PRO9000 Printer, Nikon View Camera and Enlarging lenses, and many other brands of photo equipment.

I see many posts that mention cameras by manufacturer, i.e. Canon, Nikon, Sony, Fuji, plus a few others. I have yet to see any posts making any comment, positive or negative, about Pentax. As a Pentax user, I have found them to be very good cameras with excellent glass, and very easy to handle, control and operate. So, I'm wondering how others here feel or think of Pentax gear, positive or negative.

A BIG positive on the Pentax cameras. I started in the late 60's with Nikon, switched to Pentax back in 1984 and now regularly use three different model digitals!

For those who care, Pentax had a 6MP full frame camera back around 2001. Because sensor technology wasn't very good back then, I think they pulled it before it tarnished the well known Pentax reliability.

I tried to sell a K3 and KP to MPB but they had no interest in them. Also on sale on UHH, 3 days and no interest. I think they are great but I want to buy a fuji X-H1, but I'm keeping my K-1 II. They make a very good product but lack exposure that the rest get.

I'm thinking that a descriptive title would have been intelligent.
