More than that you will have to upgrade to Flickr-Pro for $49.99 per year. It has some benefits but not
sure worth $50.00.

I saw that too, and am debating the choices. It isn't an awful deal, IMO, but I have some thinking to do first.

As I posted in a parallel post, I'll delete when I get near 1000 and if Flickr gets too tough to use, I'll move to something like Adobe's Portfolio since its already part of the Creative Cloud.

I got an email from Flickr yesterday, and that got me looking at it again. A few years ago, I had problems, so I abandoned it. After getting a new password, I saw that I had 100 pics posted, and I added another 53. It's convenient for sharing pictures. I haven't looked into moving them around or putting them into albums, as I do with Google Photos.

That's what I am doing ... somewhere I read you should only (ever) post your BEST photos on the web ... let's see, that brings my 'thousands' to about 20 photos (lol)

When SmugMug bought out Flickr earlier in the year, they stated that nothing was to change for the Flickr users. That they would be offering a more feature-rich level of service for those interested, but the current service would not change. I guess the bean-counters have been weighing the cost of offering a free service and have decided to limit what is free.

I contacted Flickr about this. Here, in part, is the response:

Free members with more than (a combination of) 1,000 photos or videos uploaded to Flickr have until Tuesday, January 8th, 2019 to upgrade to Pro or download content over that limit. After January 8th, 2019, members over the limit will no longer be able to upload new photos to Flickr. After February 5th, 2019, for free accounts that contain over 1,000 photos and/or videos, we will begin actively deleting content from your account starting from oldest to newest date uploaded to meet the new limit.

Those patient, diabolical geniuses! Talk about the long con. I've been using Flickr for free since 2004. I'd say 15 years of freeloading might be worth limiting to 1000 images, or $50 a year for the next 15 to stay unlimited.

I've got over 1200, guess I have to reduce the count, easy enough, just hit the little square edit button and delete, Bob.

I don't use Flickr nor Instagram however considering subscribing to one or the other, strictly amateur, no professional work. Difference? Any Preference?
