Along with the Eagles and Kestrel, our Merlin has also returned here in Florida ! This Merlin was catching Dragonflies in the windy late afternoon light. This is about as close as I can hope to get to him - this is 560mm with a large (70%) cropping ! The Merlin is ever so slightly larger than a Kestrel - and just as fast and skittish ! As always, shot as JPEG and PP in Elements 9.
Canon 80D and Canon 400 prime W/1.4XII from monopod, 1/500, f8, ISO 400. I shot some at 1/320 shutter but just not as sharp as 1/500.

I keep thinking I would like to get that Lens, I also have a 80D but i have a 150-600 on it. I was wondering if you happen to have a 150-600 and if you do how it compares to the 400 with the extender, lot of money to spend, i guess i should rent one and try it.
