My first reaction was the MK III. But the cameras you list have different advantages depending on what you like to shoot. Are you a doing landscapes mostly or people or street? Something else?

Landscapes, people, city scenes, some street, nature and wildlife, sports is limited to car racing. I don't have to get a camera that shoots 8-10 fps. 6 fps or a little less would do. Thanks!

Get the D750, sell your Canon glass, and use the proceeds to expand your mutual glass collection. Unless your wife is not the sharing type, in which case I go back to the 5D MK III.

I currently shoot a Canon 5D Mk II with 154,000 clicks. It is working fine. The only thing I don’t like about it is the 9 point focusing system. I would like to buy another new or newer updated camera and will probably keep my current camera as a back up.

Glass is not an issue as My wife shoots Nikon with fx glass. Also I want to stay with a full size format sensor unless someone can talk me out of it! I’ve done a fair amount of research. Budget is $1600. I have it narrowed down to the following based on current prices:

Canon 6D $995
Canon 6D MK II $1599
Nikon D750 $1396
5D MK III $1550 used 8500 clicks

Please let me know what your opinions are and thanks in advance for your guidance

I would stay with Canon you are ready to go with the 5D Mk lll you have all the glass already and your learning curve will simpler too.

I will choose my camera for sure. I just wanted opinions of people that use these cameras. Ive already used and handled all the cameras listed except for a D810 that was suggested in this thread. One of the things I'm struggling with is a new D750 vs a used 5D3. Camera decisions which is one place to compare rates the D750 at 90 and a 5D3 at 80. Additionally, most of my Nikon and Canon glass is consumer grade except for my Canon EF 100-400 L version 1

When using comparisons, I’d suggest ignoring the composite scores (whose weighting may not reflect your needs) and instead, concentrate on the performance, features and human interface that best suit your shooting style and requirements.

I do take all reviews with a grain of salt for sure

Also another related question. If I decide to go the used route I’m familiar with the normal outlets for used gear but I have come across a company called MPB. They are originally an EU company but also have an NYC operation. They have a 6 month return policy. Is anyone familiar with them? Thanks

Riddle thee this: Canon or Nikon?
With which will your marriage go smoother AND be easier to obtain exotic glass in the future?
HINT: I extracted the 4 most important and relevant sentences in your post.

It REALLY depends on the wife. Will she want total control of her system? You may not believe this, but some wives do like to exert control. It may be necessary to go Canon in order to have access to your own lenses. However, if she is the sharing caring type, having the same system could be good. Also, is there any chance that you would be assigned Sherpa duties on field trips, if you use the same system. I mean why should she lug all those lenses around when you use the same system? What is the use of us men, if we don't tote and carry? (And open jars, but they have gadgets for that now.)

She doesn't want total control but probably doesn't want to share the 24-120 as it stays on here camera 90% of the time. I always have sherpa duties!!! Im thinking right now that I will stay with Canon. Im considering 6D2, used 5D3, used or new 7D2. Keep my 5D2 and lenses. My main thrust is I want to have a better focusing system than the antiquated 5D2. Im happy with my budget full frame used 5D2 except for the focusing system.

The Nikon D750 was one of the best camera's "out of the box" Nikon ever made. They just had a big sale on them, maybe they are still on. Let me check, YES, B&H still is running a great special on the body with free vertical grip or get it with the 24-120 lens (I use this lens and it is sharp) and save even more.
