For a Nikon D3200, considering a larger capacity SD Card. Thoughts on with of these...or something different.

Either should work fine. However, I'm of the opinion that several smaller cards are safer than one large card. If you use 4 - 32GB cards instead of 1 - 128 GB card, you will only lose 25% of your photos rather than 100% if you have a card failure. This, of course, assumes that you will use the entire 128GB during your photo session.

SanDisk is one recommended by Nikon. It's what I use, but unless you are shooting non stop or a lot of bursts, 128 is a little big I think. I use 32 and keep a couple extra. BTW I shot work the 3300.

I too have heard the logic that using more 16-32gb cards is safer than one 128gb card, if the card fails, for a variety of reasons, you lose everything on that large capcity card.

You don't need a card bigger than the battery. When the battery run out it's time to swap a card.

The "U3/90" is better for that size card. I just ordered a "U3/95" 64gb for my D750. I'm planning on using it for my RAW card slot, and keeping the "U1/80" 32gb for the .jpeg slot.

I like SanDisk, but I find 32GB to be sufficient. Faster is generally better, but not if your camera isn't as fast as the card. Don't spend money for something you can't use.

I recently got this pair for about $16.

Either of these should be fine. But I use mostly 32GB cards and a couple of 64’s. I am leaving today for 2 weeks and taking 6 cards. Will likely swap cards every 2 days or so. That way if a cards fails (G-d forbid) I won’t lose my trip. Also my wife will be shooting as well so we back up each other. PS - my kit on this trip is a E-M1(i).

I wouldn’t go 128, too risky if something fails. Regardless, go for the 90 MB’s as it will cut buffering time.

I'm with jerryc41 on this one!! Great price, great performance, and eggs in several baskets!

The reason I use smaller cards? They are cheaper and I seldom fill a card up because I download the photos I take the same day I take them. If I do fill a card up, I always have multiple cards with me and will joyfully fill them up as well -- and download them all when I get home.

I use only large SanDisk cards. By using 16 32gb cards I would have 16 times the potential for failure. I find large cards are less to keep up when traveling abroad. I have only had 2 off brand cards to fail in many years and nary a SanDisk card to fail. I also probably have a greater chance of having my camera (with card) stolen than having a SanDisk card fail. Just my opinion from another viewpoint. JimmyT

I only use 32gb class 10 cards in my D500 and have never came close to filling on is a days shoot, I use cont 10 fps a lot shooting wildlife, the only time a fast write is required. Many use the large gb cards but I wouldn't buy one, never had a need.
