A good set of shots in challenging conditions.
I marvel at this sport. I've always considered it to be far more skillful than any other form of motorcycle sports.

Great series, brings back memories of the good old times. Rode trials often Spain on a Sherpa T 250, when not racing.

Two old sayings: Trials riders do it slow, and Trials riders do it standing up, LOL

Thanks Jolly Roger. Observed trials is much more popular in your part of the world than here in the US. And the best riders seem to be mostly from Europe, especially Spain.

Thanks for checking in Bultaco. My Sherpa was a 350 but I think the 250 was probably the better trials bike. Around here at least, the better riders seemed to prefer the 250.

Their a little lighter and had plenty of torque, you could lift the front anytime you wanted.

I did that once. In my case it was called an accident.

I am a trials rider here in the UK and have never seen any competitor wear a waterproof, quite pathetic really. Great shots though.

Love these shots. You've found and excellent location for the action and in keeping dry. Mahalo for sharing.

I photographed another motorcycle trials last weekend near Weeping Water, NE. It was raining the entire event and the ground was too slippery to walk into the sections as I usually do with my trusty 24-70, so I used the Nifty 50 and an umbrella and shot one-handed from a distance. Mostly used 1/1000, f3.5 with auto ISO. The outer lens on the 50 is quite recessed, so it was fairly easy to keep it dry.

Thanks Jack. Cool shots. Wished I was there.

Thanks Brent. I used to ride trials back in the '70s and '80s. My last bike was a 350 Sherpa T which was a modern bike at that time. Now I just enjoy photographing the club (Mid-West Trials Association) events, fewer aches and pains and bruises. Yes, it has changed a lot. Back when I rode, no one ever thought about actually stopping a bike in the middle of a section, LOL.

Southern California Trials Association here. Marland Whaley was becoming the amazing trials rider of the day back when I rode. The bikes of those days are ancient looking compared to the low center of gravity bikes of today. I rode a Bultaco 250 Alpina. Your bike was state of the art in those days!
