I have a monopod and use it frequently. My difficulty is my right hand shaking (due to slight Parkinson's) at the instant of auto focus and shutter release. The weight of my DSLR's seems to help. The newly acquired Sony RX10 IV is more of a "shaking problem". I may try a cable release, hand strap or BBF for the Sony. I won't quit!!
Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.

Give a monopod a try, Mark. I have pretty steady hands but I don't even consider hand held with a telephoto. With some practice you will be just as quick and versatile as the guys who shoot handheld. Personally, I've never seen any merit in shooting handheld. I have posted some BIFs that I'm pretty proud of and they were all shot using a monopod.
