Friends, can you recommend a lab for developing 35mm color negative film and digitizing? I am determined to use some old gear but I am worried about the processing side. Any advice will be welcomed.
Thank you,
George

Try TheDarkroom.com for mailing them the film and receiving back the negatives and scanned files

Although I haven't used them, I know that our local Walgreen's processes film. I don't know about digitizing, but I'd be surprised if they didn't.

Many chain drug stores don’t do in-house film processing anymore and send it out to a separate lab. The Walgreens here will not return your film. So if dropping your film locally to a chain drug store or any place where photo services is not the primary line of business be sure to confirm that you’ll get your film back!

Second The Darkroom. Great prices and prompt service. We don’t have a local Costco, but I know the other chains do NOT return your negatives. You need them back, unless you’re paying for an ultra high resolution scan of the whole roll each time. If you don’t get the negatives back you won’t be able to get that mega mega pixel scan for the one image that you want to enlarge to 16x20 or more. Scanner technology also continues to improve.

We are lucky to have a local shop that does “develop and scan” processing, but for the rest of the country, I’d recommend The Darkroom.

All places today that process film will do the scanning but many like Walgreens when they send it out they don't give you the negatives. That's a bad bad thing to have.
As per your link they will give you a CD but not negatives.

A third vote for The Darkroom. Excellent service and fast. And negatives are returned.

Try local labs first. Definitely can save on shipping costs if you drop off and pick up in person. And perhaps turnover time too, as there won't be any time wasted with film mailed back and forth.

I use Dwaynes Photo in Kansas for all my 35mm and 120 roll film. For old stuff or "ODD" film I use The Camera Shop in St. Cloud, MN.

Both will scan for you but I prefer to scan my own for much better control of the end result.

Walgreens does do film. But, they will not return the negatives, ht give you a CD with very low res images that look terrible when viewed at 100%.
