Generally, I print them and organize them into albums.

Get a digital frame. Most take an SD card so you can easily put thousands, 10s of thousands of images onto a 32GB card that continuously cycles on your kitchen counter, bookshelf, etc. Every 6-months or so, copy new / recent work onto the card.

My "critter wall" in my small apartment. Frames stay as you see them, I just replace the pics every so often. The live critter is irreplaceable, of course

Among the things already mentioned (prints, post, store, picture frame, share), I have a jigsaw puzzle app for my iPad that lets me make a puzzle out of my photos.

Saving them is great but for only you. SHARE them with friends, family and especially anyone caught in the photograph. Set up your own website and write a narrative about the photos, place, people. Or upload them to OneDrive or DropBox and then email the hyper link to any or all of the above. Then if you want to do something lasting and special print them a photo book. Cheap, Cheap $20.00 at Costco and they are excellent media for 100 ~ 130 photos. Regardless of the media SHARE - SHARE!

I print 6x4 keepers and collect into small picture books by topic and leave around the house - people do pick them up and seem to enjoy flicking through them. I archive into the same collections to an external drive. Best ones I sometimes print to 4/3 on A4 and frame in non reflective glass. Occasionally I send one to White Wall for a biggy - can recommend them. Tend to dump most else. The archived collections I can do in slide shows if asked (doesn't happen often).

I have 2 classes of images.
Personal and family.
I have scanned hundreds of family photos dating back to the late 1800's as well as photos I have taken over the years of family events.
Those go on a dedicated external drive (Backed up) and then they all get posted to Facebook in either my mother's page for her side of the family or my father's page for his side of the family. Then for my mother's war letters I made PDF's of them all and gave a DVD to my siblings to do with as they pleased as far as distribution. This way if any relative including my children want anything go to FB or wait until I die.

For personal photos I print a few, post some here on UHH or other interest groups. I use them to remember travels mostly or reference something. I have discarded hundreds of them if they fail to remind me of anything or why I took it as if it means nothing to me then the same to everyone else. If when I die anyone gives a crap about my military adventures around the world or places I visited then go at it otherwise they can discard the photos as at that time they will be meaningless to me.

I keep my Architecture work separate as well and again if anyone wants to see the design and construction documents as well as photos of the WIP and final, fine, if not, then they will be thrown out as they are all preserved with the governing agencies around the country for professional review for as long as the governing agency exists.

Yeah, one gets the impression they could care less. I sorted my many thousands into our respective families and then burned disks for each family. Not much said. Don't think they really care.
It's our hobby and the joy may be solely ours. I did a photo book with lifetime photos of exclusively me, another book exclusively of my wife and another with photos of the both of us. SO, they'll have something to remember us by occasionally when we're gone. Made the books because who's going to maintain a computer record for all of our external drives that eventually die or become obsolete? They have their iPhones and will probably care less about our landscapes, vacations, travel etc. My point? Don't do it for the younger generations, do it for your own enjoyment.

Put them on my desk top in a folder and then use them as a screen saver. They rotate every 5 seconds. Our favorites my husband somehow puts the desktop on the TV and the photos rotate to the music station we select.

Some family pictures I save. Most of the others go in the round file.

I post some on social media and on some sites that I belong to. I also make a coffee table book of some of my favorites each year. I use Shutterfly (I know there are better ones out there, but I have used Shutterfly for so many things that it is easy to create the book I want); and the book is in the 11x14 format. 2018 just got done!
Many pictures sit in the cloud (google and Shutterfly storage), and every so often I delete a bunch.

Great question what to do with all the thousands of digital images! Mostly it stays on harddrives and very difficult to show to friends and families! My dad used to shoot slides and then from a young age we had slide shows every now and then, that was before video! Yes you can share on Facebook or any kind of social media platform but soon they disappear until you load up some new ones. Many viewers will either like it or even give a comment but then its gone!

During the film days you handed in your film to be processed and got 4x6 prints back, through away the duds and the others made it into a album which was portable and did not use any form of power to illuminate! Still today I page through my albums but photos are starting to fall out!

Its been my idea to compile a photobook for a long time but hesitated as it is expensive in my country to print! However I just have to do it as it is the only way to show friends, family and guests of the places I have visited and its mobile! I don' want to make a proper portfolio printed on high quality paper like coffee table books as this is very expensive! My need is more like a magazine type of photobook, not necessary magazine type of paper but "bending" paper type of book so that I can have several books! My other problem is: what size of book? A4 portrait or A4 landscape or what ever!

There are a number of free contest or challenge sites where you can post photos and win recognition. I post photos on several and enjoy following votes and comments.

Pictures I take for/with others go on Google Photos so everyone can see them. I have 133 from the weekend to post. The other thousands stay on my drive and backup drives sorted into the appropriate folders.

I envy people I see showing off their pictures on their cell phones. I can't take good cell phone pictures. I have hundreds on mine, but I have no idea how they got there.
