My new motorcycle

There are often photos of old cars and trucks posted on this web site. I've taken the opportunity to post a photo of my new motorcycle, a 2018 Honda GL1800 Goldwing Tour. This is not the actual motorcycle, it is a photo I lifted from the dealers website, but it's the same model and color. I'll post a photo of the actual motorcycle as soon as I get a chance.

Finest motorcycle ever made. Wish I was tall enough to ride a wing! Enjoy you magnificent ride.

I don't know about the new ones, mine is a bit taller than my old one (2013) and the suspension is different but, I know the previous generation GL1800's can be lowered. A good friend of mine rides a 2008 GL1800 that has been lowered. She's around 5 foot tall and can put both feet flat on the ground.

Congratulations! Here's to hoping you have hours/days of fine weather and clear roads. I have ridden most of my life and almost exclusively the Japanese bikes. I have only ridden a GoldWing twice. Borrowed a 1995 GL1500 for a week to two up with my new girlfriend back in 1997. Lots of fun. I also rode a 1980 GL1100 that had been cafed or modified. Drove that puppy in Thailand for a day. A real neat day all around.

Enjoy your new motorcycle!!!

I sold my HD last year and bought a new 2016 model as the 2017s were coming out, same color as your cycle and love it. It is not my first Goldwing but they have made so many improvements over the past 15 years it was hard to believe. Enjoy your new ride, they are great. Many don't like the reduced storage space but since I don't take over the country rides anymore, I love them!

Fortunately, the year I bought mine, 1995, they lowered the seat, so I was very comfortable.

My first Goldwing was a white 1998 GL1500.

The 2018 model is a total redesign. It has very little if anything in common with the older GL1800'S. The engine is even smaller and produces about 25 more horsepower and, gets better fuel mileage. The new models come with a 6 speed manual or 7 speed auto/manual transmission. I got the 6 speed. My only real problem with the smaller trunk is the smaller luggage rack they make for it. I used my luggage rack often and the new one is about 1/3 the size. To compensate for the smaller trunk I will just carry less crap in it. When I cleaned out the old 'wing, I was kinda amazed at how much junk I had in there. Overall the previous model had lots more storage than the new model. I guess Honda is trying to attract people who historically carry less stuff.
A good friend and riding buddy has a HD touring bike that's almost the same color as my new Goldwing. We were going over the new bike and all the changes and he was saying how he liked a lot of things about it. I pointed out that his still gets better gas mileage with 2 cylinders vs 6. He sat on it and started the engine and remarked, you don't even feel it running. Can't say that about the HD engine.

Thank you. I've been riding since I was 15, many years ago. I've owned Japanese, Italian, Spanish, English and Austrian motorcycles over the years and once you've had a Goldwing, you're hooked.

Your new Goldwing is beautiful. We must go riding some time. How is your wife's bike coming along?

Thank you. I really like the color. Kitty is coming along. Just got a new battery and once that's in, need to give her a good cleaning and hopefully she will run ok. Need inspection also. Want to ride, just pick a time and place to meet. Hopefully Kitty will be back on the streets next week.
