If they are like our goats, they will eat the trees, weeds, etc., but they will hardly ever eat the grass if there’s anything else around.

Thanks John! They are a very effective solution to poison oak.

We need herds of these goats to control our kudzu problem down here in the South.

Thanks for the comment Stan. Interesting thought about the kudzu, out here it the invasive water hyacinth we could use more help with. I don't know if goats are willing to swim for dinner.

Interesting series my friend, amazing what these goats do, I still remember the Oakland hill fire. Hope they enjoy the great view of the bay area they have. We had them clearing some area here by the SF airport, they did a great job. Thanks for posting .

Thanks very much Mike! They are amazing. I have very strong memories of that 1991 fire, it burned to within a few blocks of my house. These shots overlook the area where many homes were lost. I appreciate your visit, be well.

Nice set, Phil and know that this control method has been used in Virginia, but don't know what the current status is.

Thanks Corky! It is a very workable method, and they are fun to watch.

Neat idea (and nice pics, BTW). One of our mines used cattle on their slag piles. The idea was to break up the surface to catch and hold water better and add fertilizer so that stuff would grow. It took awhile, but it worked.

Thanks for the kind comment Kathy! The idea makes a lot of sense to me.

There is a steep hillside next to the historic Angels Flight funicular in downtown Los Angeles where they brought in a herd of goats to clear the brush. Too steep for lawn mowers and a potential fire hazard. What a kick to see the goats among all the steel and glass high rise office buildings...but effective. Jak

Thank you for the visit and comment Jak! Yes, I love those moments of visual contrast.

Nice set. My guess is unless they pull everything out by the roots to eat it the it shoudlnt contribute to soil erosion. I woukd also think their progress would be monitored so this didnt take place

Thank you. You are correct and they are closely managed. The are given more oversight and work a great deal harder than most of our elected offiicials! I appreciate your comment.
