Your welcome. I would try it without the 2x converter.

Last night I set up on a sturdy tripod and took a shot of the moon. I was using a Sony a7r3 with a Sony 100-400 GM lens with the Sony 2x converter. I turned the steady shot assistance off and used a delayed trigger (2 seconds). My settings were M, ISO 100, 1/250, F10. I did my best in the manual focus, but either there is vibration I did not avoid or I did not focus well. Any suggestions?

I have had a good result focusing on infinity and than pulling back a nat's whisker. You can but try!

My experience goes along with Wolfman. My settings were almost the same and my shot, it’s twin. Only I used the Tammy 150-600. If you search my posts, you’ll see it. Keep trying, buddy. You will figure it out.

Thanks for the kind comment, but I am using a Sony a7r3 with a Sony 100 - 400 GM.

Was it a warm night? Remember atmospheric conditions can affect your image as well.

Don’t know if you have mirror up and live view .. the remote shutter is a must .b u l b .. .. f/8-11 and ISO 300/400 .. 125-400 sec .. A less than full moon for better detail and crater contrast .. on my D800E .. I could use Auto focus .or manual . not so on my D810 . Manual or auto focus ..Manual and D850.. make sure your manual focus is right on .. also bracket up and down and focus a hair over and a hair under and ..take 50mshots ...see the results and exit data with each and see what settings are achieving the best shots ..take quick notes of each shot and focus bracketing .. some cameras as yours .. you can go into the menus and adjust the EV to 0 or -1 ... EV-1 .. as the moon is very bride .. set the camera to spot metering if the moon is very bright so the camera will concentrate on the moon and not take into consideration the black void around the moon that would fool the light sensor or it will be over exposed..

Make sure there is no moisture formed on the lens from a humid or damp night ... if there are rings around the moon ... don’t shoot ..choose another nite ..

Wait for the moon to be directly overhead to be shooting through the shortest distance of Earth atmosphere ..

GOOD LUCK .. can’t wait for tomorrow’s post ..
