Can I get some recommendations for a pocket-sized point and shoot for my husband? He is not interested in a DSLR but he has a very good eye and needs a decent camera. He is using an old Nikon Coolpix that is wearing out. Thanks.

Checkout the Canon line of small digital cameras. I've used one mostly for informal family shots and travel and have been very happy with it. The image quality is even good enough for moderate blowups. Costco has them if you are a member.

I've used the Canon S90, S95, S100, S110, S120 and love them all!

I have a Nikon AW 110 that I always carry in my pocket.
It does a great job for me when I'm not with my large carry-around camera.
I did have a small similar camera but it had the shutters that closed over the lens built into the body of the camera and closed when turned off.
I guess pocket lint or dust & dirt got into the shutters causing them to stick and freeze and lock half way.
After trying everything,I couldn't find a place to have it repaired at a price that was worth it.
I junked it and got my Nikon that doesn't have a shutter cover cover.
I've had no problems since.

I have really been impressed by the quality of photos from Sony's Rx100 series. I have had the original, III, and V. The original was a bit slower and had a slightly longer lens than the II-V series. The Vi, which I just ordered is once again a bit slower with a much longer lens. The III-VI have view finders, which have gotten better with each model. The II might also have a viewfinder. The older ones are still for sale much cheaper than the new ones. These cameras really fit in a pocket and the quality is excellent.

These Sony cameras seem to get the most votes for pocket cameras on this forum. A good place to start. I use a Canon G7X Mark II when I don't want to carry around my big DSLR. The zoom is 24-100mm equivalent, f/1.8 to f/2.8. Not a long zoom, but IQ is outstanding for a 1 inch sensor. It does not have a viewfinder, but the touch screen allows you to touch the point where you would like to focus. You can also flip it up to take selfies. Don't laugh. They do serve a purpose.

Panasonic LX100. Short zoom range, but great pictures.

I have a Samsung 350, It has 20x optical zoom and some manual setting, but works great on auto. I have to have a small camera that can go anywhere when we are out geocaching, cause I like to take pics but don't wanna carry a lot of camera stuff. But I would really recommend taking him out and looking at and handling the different cameras, letting him pick several he likes and then reading reviews online and letting him choose.

I will second the opinion of the G7X II. I have this camera and had the Sony Rx100 V. The Sony is a great camera but NOT $500 better than the Cannon. The G7X II has served my purposes well and I enjoy shooting it.
