I do photography for a local high school senior events and have created templates in Publisher, however I bought a new computer and a stand alone version of Publisher is no longer available. It is a subscription, like Photoshop. I don't want to pay a monthly fee for this...any suggestions for replacing Publisher??

Was the one you had on CD?

Nope, it was a download when I purchased it. Would I be able to move it without the CD?

I was like you and didn’t want to subscribe to monthly “rent” of Adobe apps (Lightroom and Photoshop). Then I started thinking about how often I might want to upgrade to get some of the new features, camera support, etc. I figured I’d want to upgrade about every 2 years and when I considered what it had cost to purchase upgrades, the cost of monthly subscription fees was about the same...plus, I didn’t have to wait 2 years for the upgrades, etc. In the end, I signed up for the monthly subscription. I’ve found there are some other benefits to this plan also...I can have the software on my desktop, laptop, phone and tablet. There are some “free” components that I get just for being a subscriber. I guess what I’m saying is that when I sat down and calculated the real cost, it was about the same...and there are some real benefits (like always being up to date). I use the “Classic” versions so I don’t save my pictures on the cloud. Maybe it’s worth thinking about. I also know how much it will cost me and I spread that cost over time. Good luck in your search or decision.

If you still have the download of the program (might be in your Download folder), you should be able to install from that file unless the old program is not compatible with your current OS. As Jak86094 pointed out, though, consider the long-term cost of the program (including the learning curve of any new program!), not just the monthly charge.

Just a note for the future - when I buy apps and download them I also order the CD but more to your point - I save the downloaded installation files in a special downloads folder for future use. And have a second copy on a removable USB thumb drive.

Moral of the story: always keep the downloaded file.

Unfortunately, some downloaded files are only “setup” files that do a more substantial download while installing. If that is the case, you are screwed. If so, it usually isn't very large.

If, however, it is the full program, copy it to the new computer, run, and enjoy!

Look at libreoffice Impress it works the same way as publisher.
MSWord will allow you to add text boxes and images. You will not get the flames and some other toys but check to see if it will do what you want.
have fun

Another option is an open source DTP also from Libre.

Publisher is still available but you have to purchase Microsoft Office "Professional." You can buy Office 2016 Professional as a standalone suite without having to go with Office 365 annual license. Only problem is that the Professional version of the suite is fairly pricey.

I went with Office 365 at $7 a month. I have it on my laptop and iPhone, and it's updated regularly. I can switch easily between home and office accounts. Wave of the future, and only 70% of the cost of the Adobe Suite. For 17 bucks a month, I think these two take care of most of my daily computing work. AutoCAD is next; my standalone version is getting very cranky. All of my other work software is now cloud based, and via subscription only, but the good news is that my office pays for it and I can access it anywhere. Changing with the times, I'm afraid....

Affinity Publisher (Beta) is available for free download. http://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/publisher/

If it is as good as Affinity Photo and Affinity Designer and sells for the same kind of price (Below $50.00) it may well be worth getting.

No. Software gets "installed", you cannot copy (move) it to another computer.
Do you still have the download? But it might not work anymore if they changed everything.
